What Lunix or *BDSM do you recommend?

I realized I'm only using my Surface tablet for doing physics and math stuff, especially writing LaTeX/TikZ

You don't have many options with Linux, so Ubuntu.

Even Debian 12 supports touch screens last I checked, and earlier versions did as well.

If you're coming from Windows, then try Mint. It's a very easy way to get into Linux, user friendly but you still have access to all the command line stuff if you want.

>/g/ decides
That's a faggy cop out in which you can pretend to wait for some consensus answer or weed out whatever you just don't want (i.e. Sneedacity fiasco).

The true way of doing it is:

I used to be a fan of Slackware. I used it for a long-time because I was deployed in remote places with no internet and this was the only distro IIRC that came with the whole suite of apps. so I would just install whatever I needed from DVD, but I always started with a barebones install.

also, what the hell is picrel?

For home use it's super simple to choose a distro:
>You want a windows-like desktop?
Install the latest Kubuntu non-LTS.
>You want a macOS-like desktop?
Install the latest Ubuntu non-LTS.
>You have a problem with Ubuntu?
Then you either already know what you're doing, or you need to do more research (maybe the problem you have with Ubuntu is actually not justified)
