Turns out Qwen has learned the realism style, but it's mostly a complete failure for my prompt following test

Because they have been fooled. For art and realism the model is heavily overbaked on the SOTA for API (Seedream 3.0), also has some GPT 4o mixed in there as well. This allows them to lie on benchmarks and pretend Qwen is good. It looks nice to the average user who is not too concerned about realism but wants to compare base models because that's what they know, Flux base (no exposure nor good awareness of Chroma). I'm sure it blows Flux dev out of the water based on having better styles alone. But it's not necessarily technically better. That is the big fat lie that the average user isn't aware of. But for some reason, it's working for a good chunk of them.

It's obvious, that the uncensored model will prevail. Qwen has a lot of work to do (pic rel) if it wants to stand a chance against Chroma, and it's prohibitively expensive to properly train.

Well, yeah, that may be true, but I think the main hurdle for Chroma is how runnable it is for VRAMlets. It is twice as long as Flux dev. On a 3090, that is a massive wait time for a quality gen, at least to me (I take 35 steps on average). That's why a nunchaku Chroma is crucial.

Chroma didn't turn out a failure though. It's the only model that has any hope for being great. Even at its current state, further training is all needs. Anyone can pick it up, not just Lodestone. Picking up Chroma and fixing it is a more realistic undertaking than picking up Qwen and trying to fix it.

Yes, it's definitely demanding. Once the retraining is finished, I'm curious if a version without negative prompts could help push it a little faster. Nunchaku support would be amazing, but convincing the Chinese guys to work on it would probably take Lode himself discussing it with them directly.

its just Q6 (i'll use fp8 when i buy more ram there's really nothing Q6 can't do goon-wise that 8-bit quants can), the big breasts lora and lightning 1.1 so if you're not a retard like me using 2.2 lightning you may have even nicer results

i've tried both q6 and fp8 and q8 and honestly for 1girling or just testing/making prompts you don't need 8 bits

There are many ways to prompt Chroma. You can get slop if you want. Though for me it happens accidently. If you really wanted to, I'm sure there's a way to trigger it.

Anyways, I do not really believe Chroma can be compared to models that are slopped out of the box. It can only be compared to models that are censored post training (like API models), and it shares similarities with those type of models (prompting freedom, details captured in image, etc...). But because those models are censored, Chroma is capable of more. If you prompt Chroma for many of the same aspects for regular AI images (like bokeh, etc...) you will notice that the image doesn't necessarily lose its realism, but it looks more professional and less noisy. Alternatively, a boomer prompt describing a professional photograph also works wonders. That is just one of many differences between a model like Chroma and Qwen.

Chroma is a good way to get realistic details. No camera is truly free of noise, attempting that that is just foolish. Real images do not bother me, and neither does Chroma. If you do not like detail you get out of real photographs/cameras, you can always swap to Wan (though Wan 2.2 is not fully slopped, just defaults to a more cinematic type of picture).

I've been going through lodestone's datasets for anime and photoreal images and it genuinely seems like adding these removes the issues i have with the model defaulting toward a slopped style.
"This image displays:" in front of the positive like in the pixelprose dataset.
"Stylized. Drawing. Sketch. Cartoon. Anime. 3D render." in negatives, since these seem to be the styles mentioned in the anime datasets.
Normally I get the untextured oversaturated images with v50 but I don't with these. I might just be seeing what I want though.

There is literally no reason to use the 2.2 LoRA. The 2.1 LoRA can handle the movement and denoises sufficiently. All the 2.2 LoRA is doing is ruining your output variety and making movements slow motion.
