I use XDA Forums I suppose, though I haven't posted too much yet.

Still use model specific car forums because they have 20 years of information that can't be found anywhere else. Everyone has migrated to Facebook groups but it's near impossible to search for anything specific in Facebook groups.

yeah I've been frequenting a handful of forums for decades

I lurk a select few. I say lurk, but that's only 'cause I don't bother posting/commenting much on them. I really only use them for finding specific information/documentation on something.

Interactions aren't as fast as they are with 4chan or Reddit, but that's not the point of forums. It's for organized discussion about a topic and its subtopics; it's not supposed to be a social space--though some forums do provide that. There are certain users that either stand out or are frequent posters. Some of them try too hard to become wacky personas.

I think people who say they're too slow (or claim that forums are dead/dying) are spoiled by 4chan, Reddit, and social media in general; they're used to casual discussion.

Reddit is inundated with third-world poors--much like 4chan these days--there are too many Zoomers on Discord and I can't bother deciphering their niggerlicious vernacular, and Zuckerburg tongues my anus.

Lot of super nerdy music gear and recording folks still use forums. Much easier to find techy info and swap/sell gear.

Reverb has gone to shit and is becoming more of a scam by the day, sadly.
