with the new resurgence in multiscale discs, i figured it's cheap to produce in scale compared to ssd. that being said downloadable content has become the norm so i can't picture it ever being picked up fully anywhere.

Given how fast consumer CPUs are becoming for software AV1 4K encoding it's more likely people in the future will just send each other UHD blu-ray rips to each other over home servers as streaming websites double down on all the woke shit and censorship. If buying isn't owning then copying isn't stealing.

Absurd capacity discs have been promised for decades, but not one has ever left the lab. Until you can go buy them with no strings attached, I'm not wasting my energy believing in it.

I'd very much like Chyna to make something as ridiculous as that
but I heard something about Sony unfortunately now cutting back on Blu-ray production?

Blu-ray could’ve been the real successor to CDs for big media files, but they shot themselves in the foot with insane prices and mandatory DRM.

No. Any disk above 1-4gb is expensive. They're fun though.
