Proud vibe-coder here. I've been pumping out apps and websites hand over fist the last year despite only knowing data-science Python.
I often have a quick check over any back-end calculations etc just to make sure it all makes sense but otherwise I don't even read the shit I'm releasing.
This will probably catch up with us one day but I'm not stopping.

ah yes, the security holes that ... no programmer ever made, am I right? There have been 0 hacks before 2023 as we all know because
>programmer would never ever make mistakes and never ever use the wrong string size in c++,
>use eval() or similar functions for literal execution in client side xss,
>programmers would never even not update software for reading PDFs leading to 4chan being down for 2 weeks;
>programmers would never ever misconfigure access rights to databases leading to million of pwn-ed foids;
>programmers just cannot imagine ever using "admin admin" for username and pass for bank ass on clearnet leading to some of the biggest data leaks in banking history.;
>programmers, just would never ever execute database queries from inputted text leading to the databases being leaked and then deleted;
>programmers would never ever incorrectly deserializing data...

The truth about programmers and especially the old ones is that they are such giant faggots that they should all be unemployed. And I am saying this as a programmer: if your ego is high and you are not here to solve a problem, get fired.

To be fair, OP on his post said that he asked cursor to create something for him and that he "didn't write a single line of code."
However, why would you need to learn something if you can ask a machine to do it for you even faster than you can ? Not many people learn to program in assembly, some hobbyist do and maybe people working in the firmware industry, but those are just a very small fraction of developers. So, yes, programming is dead.

So if AI takes software development jobs, then what makes you think it won't take all trade jobs? China already has dark factories that work 24/7 with 0 human intervention, then that means any job that involves doing pretty much anything like any mechanism or a system can be outsourced to AI or AI powered robots. Since any system can be thoroughly studied, examined and operated upon by AI.

So If AI takes all jobs, then that means people have no income, if people have no income they don't buy anything or pay taxes, which means 0 GDP, 0 GDP means money is worthless and the only worth there is is energy resource control to power AI and then we enter some kind of a dystopian future resembling the Terminator, Elysium and Idiocracy at the same time where the rich have left the planet because of climate change induced by enormous power hungry data centers and left the AI-powered robots to look after nuclear power plants and guard giga data centers and factories with terminator robots from what's left of the local population/resistance.

At work, I'm vibing up GUI tools for my own needs. Shit that would have taken a programmer weeks to complete, unless you want it full of bugs and extremely simple, and would have been aligned with THEIR autistic wants and ideas, not with what I need. And it never would have been done anyway as they'll never devote an engineer to code tools for engineering-adjacent roles like myself.

If you're not vibe-coding custom apps for your niche domain specific work in 2025 you'll be permanently behind everyone who does. Simple as.

Using a translator is great if you don't knoe the language but learning to simply make short statements myself is also a skill I'd want to learn through seeing all these processes.
>feed a man a fish and he's fed for a day, teach a man to fish and he's fed for life
Really, I know teaching me and making good examples of coding is in the initial promise package of LLMs, but I also understand buisnesses are adopting the "dating app" model of
>wait wait wait, if the customer actually gets what they want (the girl, coding knowladge) than they won't come to use for our services anymore! We have to trick them into thinking they're making progress while they actually get stuck in a labyrinth of no progress to retain them as customers.

Well then that's a hobby now. Getting knowledge isn't useful anymore.
Why would you want to learn something that can be done a lot better by a machine? Obviously if that is your hobby then it's fine, but in the professional world this is useless. Eventually your knowledge will be obsolete as AI continue to improve. This has nothing to do with what you want because AI can implement your knowledge faster.

it works for simple things like this but when I asked it to copy a niche nip game (yuunama) it totally shat itself. I guess its because the game was very niche and there isn't any project online thats similar to it despite it appearing to be very simple. Anonymous No.106280527

>Why would you want to learn something that can be done a lot better by a machine
I need to know so I can
1. Perform the tasks
2. Supervise the tools and extrapolate their outputs to better understand that if there's an error where the source is.
In that order. If I am performing an algebraic calculation of c=(2^4)/5 - 10, I need to comprehend order of operations to calculate this correctly. If I accidetally input my syntax wrong and calculate something else that's irrespective of the OoO, then my knowledge will kick in and understand it was me who performed the wrong calculation and not a fault with the machine. We must know the principles of the tools we use in order to use them correctly. A friend put me onto yay before I actually learned how to clone and rebuild packages off the AUR and it left a lot of confusion for me, so I went back and learned how to manually git and clone before going back to a helper.
Tools HELP. I have so much umbrage with the "art" community for rejecting AI as a tool for references, sources and examples, I think they'll do fine producing art without it but I see very little reason to be all Paul Bunyan over the purity of how you create your vision to life if you're still the hand that draws it, the mind that conceptualizes it, and the human who creates meaning to it.

This is true but the population will be a bit higher. In sci fi, you see this in books like childhoods end or songs of distant earth. An interesting quote was how scientists could get get 100,000 pounds of gold for an experiment and it was no longer an issue of finance but of logistics. Basically, the tech for a utopia is almost already finished, but it won't be given to the current population. For obvious reasons. The rewilding is also hinted at in books like Brave new world, I would suggest anyone who has yet to find a niche look into agriculture.

This indicates a lack of understanding of finance, traders would generate gold with those experiments and dump them on the market until gold is trading at roughly the cost of the experiment. Gold only has value because it can't be dumped on the market so easily in such high volume so quickly, but rather instead is mined over time at a couple percent per year at very high costs (but still cheaper than gold).

Price changes with supply.

I'm glad I've spent 20 years programming properly, and I can now just let the LLM do the work those days I don't feel like thinking. But I do notice it is harder to get back to doing things the proper way the more I use it.
If they keep improving, nobody is going to program without them anymore, and it won't be an issue. But if they don't, they're going to breed a generation of incompetent programmers, and it's going to be disastrous.

It depends on the knowledge you already have. If you're at least familiar with the syntax you're working with, you will absorb some things over time. At first you will have nothing but surface-level knowledge of what each file does, but as your software grows, AI limitations will force you to work in very specific, atomic chunks of code, which results in you developing a deeper understanding of your codebase.

This is beyond vibe coding though. Vibe coding is just not giving a shit about code generated, ever, which is stupid.
