yeah but all the controllers and whatnot have to be on the motherboard side now. making the board more expensive and having the side (intended) effect of being locked to this proprietary device only.

horrible idea. SD cards are known to silently enter read-only mode after certain amount of writes. at some point you may start silently lose new data.

dunno, probably. still, it seems like playing with fire. SD cards are not made for intense use. too many people learned it the hard way, especially SBC users. that's why on my RPi I moved everything to a HDD connected via USB, and only left /boot on SD card.

Retards. An SSD has a controller on device, normally comes with DRAM cache, etc. An SD card is basically just a bare flash chip, with all controller, caching and access logic being on the host device.
Making an SD-sized SSD is much more impressive than just making an incrementally bigger or faster SD card.

Dang, well I think I'll keep it for now and see what happens. This is on a work laptop. Thought is if I get fired just "boop" pop out my home folder and leave.

My work tasks revolve so quickly I don't keep anything important on there. All my important work stuff gets stored in network shares.
Anonymous No.106280144 >>106280157

why do you even want to keep any work data after getting fired? not having to deal with all that shit anymore is the best part of leaving a company.
not to mention keeping company data may land you in some really deep shit if it ever comes out. not worth it imo.

Don't bother anon: you can tell the -2SDs that an "SSD" is just 2/4/8 UFDs in RAID0, and their fingers go straight in their ears and they start screaming "LALALALALA CAN'T HEAR YOU".
It's like explaining crime statistics to a leftist - they just can't handle the fact that the a controller chip on the front (which as an aside, overheats and dies regularly) is the only difference between an SD card and an SSD.
