It's easy to check the file to see if anything is in it. I uploaded something for the first time in over a decade a year or two ago. I embedded a bunch of extras like fan art and a little game for people to play where they had to guess the password to open an encrypted 7z archive.

The regulars on nyaa accused me of embedding viruses and spammed the comments of my torrent about it in an attempt to prevent people from watching it. Since the one we uploaded was an original fansub that didn't censor the content to appease the mentally ill people on the internet. After a quick look in their discords linked all over their shitty releases I discovered all of them have cut their penises off and are on the meds. I also found out everyone running nyaa and seadex are mentally ill and eunuchs.

My greater point: they always accuse everyone of doing what they're doing. It was easy enough to verify there wasn't anything bad and what I uploaded. They'd obviously opened the encrypted archives because they got pissed off about the .txt files container within them.

Concerning the thread's OP. Again it's easy enough to extract everything from an mkv/mp4 file and inspect the contents. I'm too lazy to do this myself but I doubt anything was in an automated release. Could always be something there though so you should check. There have been a few exploits using video file containers in the past but it's really rare. The main issue with nyaa these days is the administration though not what's being uploaded to it. The vast majority of uploads now are automated. Just like everything on the seadex list is put there because someone is friends with the admin. No one gives a fuck about quality of the translations or the audio+video anymore. Fansubbing is long dead.

The best thing you can do for yourself is to learn Japanese and stick to raws.

I guess the issue is within transmission-qt, it doesn't set any of the opened file descriptors with the close-on-exec flag, so that when it forks to open mpv, mpv inherits opened sockets. Then transmission-qt crashes, so sockets are not closed and the only process that is still attached to these sockets is mpv, that's why your firewall thinks mpv is the owner of these sockets, but actually mpv doesn't even know they exist and would not be able to operate on them.

tl;dr do not open files with transmission-qt, open your video directly with mpv, you shouldn't see such network traffic.
