OP you need to go with enterprise, its way easier to activate. i tried to install ultimate on a laptop but finding an activator that wasnt from a sketchy jeet site was like walking through a minefield and after a while i still got a watermark on my desktop, whereas ultimate can be easily activated 0 hassle

> Windows 7 Ultimate is the edition of Windows 7 that contains the most features. It includes all the features of Windows 7 Home Premium and Professional while also adding some additional enterprise-oriented features that were available on the SA-exclusive Windows 7 Enterprise, making it feature-complete with the latter; this edition was also available to home users on an individual license basis.[1] If a Windows 7 Home Premium or Professional user wished to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate, they would be able to do so by using Windows Anytime Upgrade, for an additional fee. This service was still available for any users who wish to upgrade.[1] Like Windows 7 Professional, it supports up to 192 GB of RAM and up to two physical CPUs, and was available in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Unlike Windows Vista Ultimate, it does not include the Windows Ultimate Extras feature or any other exclusive features that Microsoft has stated.[1]

>Application Telemetry is a mechanism that tracks anonymous usage of specific Windows system components by applications.
>The Inventory Collector inventories applications, files, devices, and drivers on the system and sends the information to Microsoft. This information is used to help diagnose compatibility problems
>Steps Recorder keeps a record of steps taken by the user. The data generated by Steps Recorder can be used in feedback systems such as Windows Error Reporting to help developers understand and fix problems. The data includes user actions such as keyboard input and mouse input, user interface data, and screen shots. Steps Recorder includes an option to turn on and off data collection.
Compatibility engine/assistant doesnt gather any information but it does make your system slower and is unnecessary unless you run a bunch of Windows 9X programs and such

7iggers are too young to know this but this has been a bug since Windows 7 SP1. I experienced this bug firsthand when working with Vizio workstations.
I have Linux users more than most, but rigging up Windows 7 to be usable on modern day hardware by running 17 webui Indian scripts is not feasible in any sense

MS updated the code signing algorithm to SHA-2. On Win7 you have to install KB4490628 and KB4474419 before Windows Update will work.

The other issue is that there are so many updates for Windows (before they switched to the monthly cumulative system) that PCs take a long time to parse the update catalog on the initial check for updates.

Your best bet is to install the last major updates by manually downloading them and installing them offline, then use Windows Update. But even on a high-end system Windows Update takes at least 20 minutes to parse the update catalog.

Major updates:
IE11 (KB2841134) - Get the ~22MB offline installer
2019-12 Servicing Stack Update (KB4531786)
2019-12 Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 11 (KB4530677)
2020-01 Preview of Monthly Quality Rollup (KB4539601)
2019-12 Security and Quality Rollup for .NET Framework 3.5.1 (KB4533095)
Malicious Software Removal Tool (KB890830)

Look into UefiSeven for mobos that don't support BIOS/CSM booting.
Unofficial generic USB3 drivers are available.
If you want to use modern onboard video, you're probably out of luck.
