How Do We Know Our VPNs Aren't Spying On Us?
If Facebook got away with it, what are the chances other VPN companies aren't doing the same on top of linking our credit card information that we used to pay for it to our VPN traffic?

VPN is just a tunnel on someone else computer for all your connection. Why wouldn't they monitor all the links you click on, sell that data to "mysterious 3rd party" and make some buck of it?

Everytime PIA has been subpoena'd they can't give any logs. So unless they're willing to risk prison time they aren't logging or spying on you.

Keep spreading FUD though.

You need to think about VPNs in those terms:
What would Feds do?
The answer is that it's cheap and trivial for any competent three-letter agency to run one or more "based" VPN providers.
The problem is you have no way to verify any of their claims. They can say they do or don't do this, and you have no way of knowing if that's true, or if it's consistent across users, over time, etc.
Anonymous No.106279501 >>106281234 >>106282976
VPN should not be used that way.
It should only be used to access intranets.

If you're not acting as a node that's receiving and forwarding traffic yourself there's no way to avoid singling out traffic sent to your IP as being for you. I just don't see any other way,

They 100% are. Which is why they're all useless placebo shit.

The best solution is to live in a 3rd world country where your ISP doesn't give a shit that you're downloading some anime torrent from 1999.

Third party audits and the best of all: Can only respond to subpoenas with nothing like PIA, which is why I use PIA despite everyone saying it's pozzed.

Because it's demonstrably not pozzed. I don't trust the others until I see court documents though.

You sound just like the burn out retard at Little Ceasars that talked me ear off for 10 minutes about how his iPhone couldn't be hacked by the FBI because MSM said so. I just wanted my pizza.

After he got done telling me about how secure his cell phone was he offered to sell me pot. I'd never met him before.

Long story short you normalfags are retarded and don't know how technology works.

yeah, they're probably spying. I'm hoping they don't care enough about me torrenting anime, TV, movies, games, and music to disclose that in court to the public. Way more valuable to use the data for other stuff. They give me a port and keep me from getting DMCA letters, good enough for me

Good thing I don't use my VPN for anything other than downloading public tracker tollents so I don't get hit with DMCA bullshit, which is literally all they're good for anyway. That and getting past geoblocks.

If you're using it for much else you're an idiot anyway, because correlation attacks would be quite easy, but do I think PIA themselves are spying on me? Almost certainly not.

the wireframe is definitely to make it appear like there's more resolution/accuracy than it really has.

at a second glance too, they're clearly doing some fuckery. there's no way it could mistake an entire forearm but also have nearly 100% accuracy for everything else. these are probably heavily cherry picked.

I don't, but what I do know is that it ends in a VPS I rent and run openvpn on. So at least until it exits that box I know it isn't.

There are too many links in the chain that you don't own to the point where trust is impossible. You either need to be behind a gorillion proxies (which is noticeable) or be so uninteresting and/or generic that you aren't singled out when your habits are vacuumed up by The Machine.

People have no idea the level of data analysis happening on every tiny thing they do. Every website is actively scraping every tiny thing you do on it down to perpixel mouse movements and analyzing and processing it, and people wonder why the modern web is impossible to be profitable when 90% of it could be replaced by a simple PHP app with a handful of files and no extra bullshit on some modest hardware. Video aside, video can never be profitable or sustainable (free or ad driven video, I mean, paid content is perfectly fine) and it's a house of cards that will inevitably collapse.
