OLED Monitors
Is it worth to upgrade to a OLED screen?
Currently have a Samsung Neo G7 Mini LED.

They look extremely good in the beginning but burn in is a major concern imo.

No. I won't be downgrading from my CRT.

IPS or VA and why?

IPS for desktop
VA for movies
CRT for games

Do you keep a monitor for more than 3 months?
Stick with IPS.

Just use a glossy IPS panel. It's good enough and will lift a lot longer than crappy OLED.

I don’t think that would make sense for me, since I already have a good mini led. I’m just asking myself if OLED would be a decent enough upgrade to justify the money for it.

add some bias lighting to an IPS monitor. a led strip on the back of the monitor works great. this will get you a nice ambience and will raise the perceived black level of your monitor to essentially the same than oled.

if you're willing to change your monitor each 3-5 years than the answer is maybe. oled suffers from its own set of problems: vrr flicker, black crush, blurry fonts, image retention and eventual burn-in.

you will probably only see improvement in dark images and in motion clarity
in bright pics probably be the same
worth it? idk do you need 240/480hz?

No. I have an oled TV and the picture is amazing, but not amazing enough to justify the price tag, burn-in paranoia, or needing to keep the room pitch black to avoid glare. Get a cheaper tech that can get brighter and not risk burning in.

If you are gaming and want TV size you are forced into oled because the only option for large screens are smeary VA's and inputlag with the dimming which gonna look like straight ass

OLED seems so useless on things like phones, i have a pixel 8 and I barely notice that its OLED, wish I could afford an actual OLED monitor but i'm too poor atm.

it's good on phones because you can make a thinner phone because no backlight is needed, the high ppi covers up oled pixel patterns, higher pecieved detail because contrast and per pixel illumination, probably higher color volumes idk what panels exist on small phones, better motion clarity and so on and so on

still useless though i look at my phone and don't ever be like "OH WOW THE BLACKS ARE BLACK" i don't even notice.

>i don't even notice.
that's because you get accustomed to shit, if you use an ass display in reverse you will very easily notice it

ok you're right OLED is amazing on phone, i didn't think i got use to it. I should take out my old phone every now and then to appreciate my OLED phone

Even for /g/s standards this shill thread is beyond embarrassing. Why don't you just link directly to ANUS site instead of barely rewriting the marketing bullshit.

I’ve had an OLED tv, steam deck, phone, laptop, and desktop monitor for 3 years now and only have burn in in my laptop because of goon habits. Don’t believe the fear mongering, as long as you turn it off when you’re not using it you won’t get burn in and having no light bleed is amazing

No upgrade until Crystal LED.
