You're an idiot if you ever trusted Google with anti-spam tech.
Have you looked at the shit that gets past the Youtube comments filter or whatever system is supposed to check Google ads for malicious content?

Free users have only limited image upload tokens, and paid users probably are limited as well because it costs a lot of money and resources to run these multimodal models unlike your typical data scraper bot or comment spam LLM. It does not prevent bots from accessing your website, but it limits the volume of them and is great inconvenience to lot of data scrapers.

The captcha isn't about picking the right images. It also collects metadata about your browser/OS etc and follows your mouse and reaction time to measure how human-like you are. Combine with cookies and it still kinda works in detecting bots.

Captcha was used to train the more advanced AIs as well as eliminate basic algorithmic bots.

LLMs and proof of work have become analogous now I guess, trade compute for access, using either method.

Wtf is that. Must be desktop only. Looks fun

Man I was on a site yesterday that had the worst captcha. It's has you pick the shape up and sit it where it fits but I have to remember the shape because it's blocked from my finger after I pick it up. It takes a good 30 seconds to load where you can drop it and there are lots of similar options

It also says over and over and over again that you failed and need to retry, even if you didn't, when you try it on a VPN. I hate Jewgle so goddamn much.

It's not about preventing spam. It's about fingerprinting users. It does a good job at accomplishing its purpose.
