It's in stable, a debian release doesn't mean you get newest software.
Mint is ubuntu, LMDE has backports enabled by default (you can add backports to trixie aswell)

GNOME console is harder to customize. have fun searching for the directory you're supposed to put your custom color scheme in instead of just doing it via a GUI
Debbian is about stability
use fedora, archlinux (CachyOS?), or openSUSE (Tumbleweed?) if you want all the latest bullshit, e.g. GNOME 3 with Ptyxis or vulnerable xz or whatever other new shit that breaks all your old customizations + adds bugs and undiscovered security vulnerabilities. shit, the new GTK breaks theming the window decorations themselves, too

theyve busted custom cursors on KDE seemingly. dropping a folder of a new cursor in ~/.local/share/icons or /usr/share/icons/ isnt even getting recognized. strange and slightly annoying
