I got memed into installing Linux and it's mostly okay but some vidyas such as battlefield 6 do not work.
Why are they so anti-consumer?

Market share.

Why care about the 1%? MAC is 1% that should represent almost 25% of the GDP of Windows users, so OK, while Linux users are usually either poor or don't spend money on frivolous things, which obviously doesn't attract big companies.

They would need to pay a little more for their anticheat to also work on Linux.

Because no one even asks for native builds anymore, just make your anticheat a little less intrusive and remove the "this game is not playable on wine" block message.
What's even funnier is that actual cheaters can use their hacks perfectly fine after compiling cheat engine with different strings, no need for custom drivers and let alone DMA hardware.

whatever you do don't get the idea of installing windows and dual booting now. Look up a guide on how to set up dualboot it's not that straightforward because Microsoft actively tries to sabotage it.
You need a second drive and you need to install Linux after windows. And even then it might break later (because of windows updates (you want those if you are connected to the Internet))

EA has been anti-consumer for a while now. They can get away with basically anything because of how big they are.

I installed Linux on a separate drive to begin with but rebooting and switching secure boot in bios every time sucks

You could consider using fedora or Ubuntu as they are secureboot compatible

You should consider using windows. Only actual advice in this thread. Thank me later OP.

get filtered and return back to windows if you genuinely fell for a generic braindead EA shooter with chudTM marketing.
i hope not a single competitive shooter/sports shit makes into linux.

>also some quick facts:
you dont bother getting spied on
you dont want to own your shit
you dont have any real issues with windows
the only reason you wanna switch is: because your eceleb said so

just be honest with yourself and stay on windows. better for both sides.

You made up most of your "facts" just now and turned this into some sort of social activism out of nowhere.

I was just joking man, linux is great welcome.

Why is EA so anticonsumer?
They've been like that way before linux was even considered as a desktop OS viable for games at all.
Before Origin, I had an account to play Bad Company 2 and they revoked my access to BF2 for no good reason. They just fucking removed it from my account because fuck me I guess. Never got a proper response from them. If possible, live without EA games.

Looking at Battlefield 1 for example it really annoyed me that it ran perfectly with proton for years. EA then decided to implement their spyware, which had the "wine/proton is not supported" then mods are their forums would respond with every request with "not supported." What pissed me off about the not supported comments was that EA arguably doesn't support their Windows games and the only reason why it worked on Linux was the community. So why go out of your way to kill it?

why would you want to play against cheaters?

Because corporations would rather have tight control of their product so they can swipe it away whenever they choose. Linux isn't condusive to having such a product. It is a more traditional type of OS, unlike the transient modern windows.
