Mostly Open Source. Based on Linux/GNU. Owned by Canonical. Easy to use and modifyable, but slowly becoming less consumer friendly due to Canonical pushing Snaps and more.
>Linux Debian
Open source. Based on Linux/GNU. FOSS (no corp). Extremely stable due to packages being pushed out every few years. Not cutting edge, but good for servers and stable systems. Useful for older machines.
>Linux Mint
Open source. Based on Linux/GNU. FOSS. Based on Ubuntu but not owned by a corp. Good for beginners, feels like an older Windows OS but uses Linux File system. Easy to learn.
>Arch Linux
Open source. Based on Linux/GNU. FOSS. Focused on pushing out the newest and latest software and fully customizeable, but unstable and often requires time to fix yourself. Not for a novice.
>Gentoo
Open source. Based on Linux/GNU. FOSS. One step away from Linux from Scratch. Compile everythiny from Source. In theory, the fastest Linux Distro imagineable once compiled, but can take hours to days to properly set up.
