It's literally a tree of Intents and Utterances and Responses Actually Alexa is ahead of the curve because it allows people to publish their own integrations and make money on it, apple promised something similar only for developers in their ecosystem and they still haven't delivered. The fact that they fell back to integrating on ChatGPT for their lauded "Apple Intelligence" should be the writing on the wall that they dropped the ball.

They just took the typical "highschooler discovers applescript and speech reco" project and then did a ton of marketing and shipped it as part of their phone OS.

I worked inside there and nobody is doing shit, and they have a system in place that makes it so nobody talks to anyone in order to prevent leaks. Full fucking buildings of Indians and diversity hires doing nothing and there was no remote work. It was maddening.

Apple has one of the most productive and capable AI teams in silicon valley given their microscopic budget.

Very few people have used Apple's LLMs (yeah they publish the weights and everything. I was running them on Linux before it was even possible to use them on iPhones lol) and they're remarkably efficient.

The problem is that Apple's leadership can't handle users having access to anything that isn't canned and completely on rails. All they can make are appliances. They've reached the end of Job's "appliance not a computer" vision. What's an information appliance that's mostly consumption oriented?

A TV. Apple makes TVs and that's all they make. Granted modern TVs are fancier than 20th century TVs but it's still not something that deserves a 35x multiple.

no. all of the talent left because apple's executives refused to invest into hardware and were told to use what apple already had to make something like chatgpt possible, and they were lured away with massive pay days to work at meta, google, etc. they also had a chance to buy former apple employee john ivy's AI startup and passed on buying it.
