what's happening is the video itself is on another hardware layer, and is seen 'through' the media player using a very specific colour as a key. the screen capture has captured this colour so it too can be used as a 'window' to see the hardware layer. you don't see it much anymore as most desktops now are composited, which does what it says, composites everything together into a single final image you see

This is because the retards in the project use Javascript for this stuff. Javascript was originally designed to just run your little applet in a browser webpage, not do anything performant, and especially not run enterprise-level applications. Some fucktards decided that it was a good idea anyway, hence node.js was born.
