Linus Removed ReiserFS, the Russian File System.
Linus Removed ReiserFS, the Russian File System, because feminists wanted it removed.
They then bragged about what "wallpapers" they would replace the 100kb with.

The code worked until the day it was deleted.
It was the last missing piece that preceeded Linux's success. The Journaling FS

Linus is a traitor to hackers and those who helped him.

At this point I wish we could get rid of Linette Transvald, she had totally lost her mind and everything she does is always bad for Linux and Linux users.

So what are the redeeming qualities of this file system? Seems like it’s inferior in every way to a more modern one.

why doesn't anyone just fork the linux kernel and do it better?
isn't that what open source is all about?

it is
reiserfs was already a dead end before the whole murder thing
reiser4 was the planned successor but that died since no one developed it anymore

though reiserfs should definitely stay in the kernel just for backwards compatibility, like accessing some old reiserfs formatted hard disk

Linux doesn't care about having a good FS. They had a chance at having bcachefs and they decided the dev was too toxic to be in the kernel. A smart filesystem that is able to determine different disk speeds and use them smartly in arrays would be a great tool. But the ext4 and btrfs devs had to be sensitive fags about an offhand comment he said.
