When I opened Firefox this morning, all my cookies got cleared for no apparent reason, so I am switching to a chromium based browser. What browser should I use?

Brave has da best adblock by default, you can remove the browser "ads" and cryptoslop just clicking 6 times on the home tab and settings.
Pretty sure that there is a way to easily solve the cookies rather than changing your browser tho, Firefox it's still pretty good and comfy.

librewolf
also turn off 'delete data when closing librewolf'
if you really want a chromium based browser for some reason, try ungoogled chromium
you will suffer because of extensions though, thank jewgle for cucking manifest v2, librewolf has ublock pre installed so even normies don't go without adblock for a second

brave is proprietary shitware infested with crypto scams and spyware, the adblock literally doesn't even work if you try to compile it from scratch
go shill your garbage somewhere else

firefox is getting cucked by mozilla, so probably librewolf (or ladybird once its actually usable)
personally i use suckless surf, but i really wouldn't recommend webkit browsers, plus it breaks most JS infested normie bullshit sites, and you need some C/bash knowledge to do anything with surf.

I will admit that Firefox does have some cookie losing issues. They're rare, but they're there. I'm not sure what triggers them. Maybe some hidden security setting that clears them every once in a while? Or more likely, a bug.

Either way, I'm not sure what Chromium browser to recommend. Probably Brave or Vivaldi. It's more a matter of preference and there's no reason why you can't have both. I keep several installed at all times. Opera has a built-in VPN, but the browser itself is a bit shady. Edge has some decent text-to-speech tools, on par with Google's.

I recommend having a backup in case Brave's built-in adblocker backfires. I've seen it outperform uBlock Origin at times, but I've also had experiences where it performed worse. It's always good to keep both options handy.

When have you noticed this happening? I just upgraded from 78 esr, there's been a lot of bugs during my use of it, but I haven't noticed cookies disappearing without my consent.

Never happened to me and I've used ff for 20 years

I'm an updooter so I can't tell you an exact version. But it has happened like once or twice a year, I think. These days I have cookies on auto-clear on close and only allow certain exceptions and it hasn't happened since.

But the reason I switched to auto-clear is even dumber. Firefox would for some reason keep all my cookies from private browsing even after closing the browser. I think it was a bug because they fixed it eventually without me changing anything, but I still set it to auto-clear.

I had that happen to me when I was using kwallet, if I opened the browser before unlocking kwallet it lost all my cookies and saved passwords

no i will not install Brave.

i will develop a new browser called Coward instead.

it will display ads for fun (no monetization at all, just showing you ads for the love of the game), you have to log in with your social security number with a photo ID, photo (every month). and all this user data will be set in a header to every request sent in the Coward browser.

also on Coward, HTTPS is banned, HTTP only.

You should be able to restore that. You can at least do that with profile settings and bookmarks.
