>he didn't incrementally build his configuration over time and didn't made arrangements to port it when needed
I understand going full retard when you can configure your own system with minutiae of particulars, but that's like when you're a fucking babby engaging with linux for the first time, if you don't eventually make your own script and/or metapackages for setting your system up in one go why the fuck are you using a diy linux distro to begin with? Install the distro in a vm, make some snapshots and then go crazy playing around with themes and shit if you like it so much.

For over a decade, I've installed it at least once a year, sometimes two or even three times occasionally, but ever lasted more than a week. This time I've set a new record with 10 days. Will it last? Time will tell.

Feels really good atm though, I think I pushed myself to make a better effort in getting it set up this time. More inclined to explore for solutions, workarounds, rather than just saying "fuck this". I have a VM too, for the one program I refuse to live either; haven't tried that before..

Linux is only cool if you're a programmer or the only thing you do on your PC is web browsing

>forget I'm even using linux, just like when I was on windows
This is the way to go about linux

Stop using reddit and unixporn all you really need is to steal a few config files from github until your shit is functional enough, it won't take more than a week of very light ricing if you're a newbie on a very riceable distro like arch

That's a great idea. I could install some linux in vmware on Windows, then configure it to my liking... and if I decide to nuke my windows setup I can then apply this linux setup without wasting time.
In the past all I changed was setting up screen and zsh plus x11/xfce with few utils - not much. Screen/terminal is pretty much all what you need.

That's on you for being a thinker tranny. All you have to do on a new install is pick which side of the screen you want your taskbar and find a cool wallpaper.
