Because most normies are using Windows and they're not planning on shipping support for Windows until mid-2026, so non-developers cannot test the early alpha versions for another year and a half.
Also their decision to switch some components to a programming language that's tied to Apple was weird.

The web standards are very complex. It took them relatively small time to add a fair share of web support where others said it would be impossible.

You just run a single script in the repository that pulls and builds all the deps, just run the script and sit back.
