MESH INTERNET
Discuss the viability and requirements of establishing a truly P2P mesh internet with mass market adoption.

>mass market adoption
why do you want mesh internet for that. markets are like prison yards for customers.

I really just mean mass adoption, thus increasing the viability of the network.

It will happen eventually

how do you scalably do routing through a churning mess of p2p shit?

Idk bro I'm just the ideas guy (casual enthusiast tired of centralized infra but with zero actual networking knowledge)

despite the various qualms about him, Elon's satellite network could offer the best solution
even just a super cheap deprioritized 8/8 plan would be great to me

He's still in control of the network though.

anything that works to avoid glowie surveillance will immediately be declared as illegal and they'll make a few examples out of some poor fuckers so people get scared and stop using it

Still worth a try.

Centralization of a mesh network defeats the purpose.

simply learn networking then good sir. i would say, skip osi, look at packet headers once, realize its mostly 32bit addresses, realize you got 16bit extra that isp uses to scam you, then realize that "networking" is highly scammy system to force you into buying ips and domains. the true meshnet of the future wouldnt care if it ran on carrier pigeons and bluetooth, it must work anyways.

The internet already is a mesh network to a degree.

protocol exists, just add your own backbone

My idea:
>make a virus that infects wifi routers
>it stays dormant undetected and just spreads
>after x years when there's enough penetration, it hijacks every wifi router and connects to one another, balancing the load among themselves and using whatever internet endpoint they'd like

My other, unrelated idea:
>make virus for iphone
>whenever user tries to delete a pic, it instead posts it to all social media

That's a fun one

if it's not e2ee and anonymous (like i2p is by default) then all the efforts are in vain.

One figures that would've gone without saying.

Doesn't matter when all through traffic goes through data centres anyway.

>to a degree.
That remaining amount is the separation between an actual meshnet and the present internet.
