Stable kernels release every 4-6 weeks by the kernel devs.
New long term supported ones release roughly every 10-11 months

Once your hardware is out of warranty, any future driver update only makes it worse.

I am still salty for slowly losing Intel GVT-g over multiple kernel and qemu updates.
