ID will be required on every social media platform caus we need to protect the kids nobody is having anymore. I dont even expect the internet to exist for much longer either. It's not actually hard to use Tor. It's just an extra piece of software you need. It's not hard to host stuff on Tor either.

the modern internet is better in greater ways than it had turned for the worse. discussion is better, production values are better, things are more high effort and less of a waste of your time. and all you have to do is not get stuck in the discord et al tarpit of normalfaggotry.
in contrast the old internet only had retarded, primitive lolrandumb "memes" and people to turn them into amateur art and inane webcomics. everyone moved without purpose, the internet was junk food no different from mass produced sitcoms and reality shows.

the only thing people of the past had was otaku anime and /pol/, and I doubt you had been able to appreciate them as they were.

the point is the influx of normalfags made the ratio of trash online look larger than it had been before, even as the absolute amount of quality product is much higher today, which means the median quality of what I consume in my finite time can be much higher today.

I agree, and I hope that happens. But I think a solid majority of people, sadly, will bend the knee to anything and stay on platforms where you need to provide ID and gape your butthole for the government.
And maybe that's not a bad thing; normies ruin communities anyway. But our online world's going to get smaller because of it, and a lot of stuff will disappear from sites shutting down (you can't just move a site to Tor to avoid new laws if you were formerly a legitimate operation and they know who you are). And that sucks and I hate the government.

Once the internet dies, I'm staying offline for the rest of my life. I have backups for everything I need. Try getting into a hands on hobby like paper modelling, music, or anything that doesn't require a network.
