The future is asking AI a question, getting an AI summary and if you're lucky, a list of links to pre-approved websites and online stores. I forget who said it, if it was the CEO of Google or Microsoft, but basically he said that you're going to get one (1) answer, so no more reading through different sites and doing your own research.

The old web will survive through directories, platforms like Neocities/Nekoweb, Marginalia, etc.

Google purposefully made their search engine shit because the worse results it gives, the more new searches you will make, and more pageloads = more ads being shown = more revenue for Google.
Not even making this up. This was the reason they made the search engine shit. The guy running Search was fired and replaced by the guy running Google Ads.

Web search was fucked even before AI flooded the web. I think the process of ruining search started around 2016-2018. Also, when the search engines get ruined, it causes sites to wither and die from lack of traffic. The web gets smaller every day. It hardly even exists anymore. We are entering the post internet era.
