as if there weren't tons of bots and crawlers before AI scrapers showed up, and I'm nonplussed that if you want a version without the branding aesthetic you need to pay $50/month, that is disappointing. Seems like they should separate the character and branding from the corporate support level and allow users to purchase support/sponsorship as they wish, or use a version with alternate/whitebox branding independently.

variant and it seems to me all of those features should just be included and accessible for those who want it without the need to fork and fuck around maintaining it. Also if it does a decent job, the last thing that any software based on security focus needs a fuckload of forks with small variables being changed into which someone can put a malicious fork or some supply chain attack. This also reflects poorly on the mainline developer's variant because when shit hits the fan it (wrongly) will be associated with the one doing the majority of work until someone sorts out the actual issue, so it doesn't seem like a great idea to put something like changing branding behind a paywall or force a complete fork.
