Why did they discontinue the $35 Raspberry Pi? What if I only need 1GB of RAM and don't want to pay an extra $15 for something I don't need?

> $35
Its due to that price point.
Tbh only their zeros make sense to purchase. All their higher performance options are like crappy mini PCs, which at that point just pay $15 more for a chink mini.

they're usually used as an iot device with a single purpise. Setup with no gui. So you wouldn't be engaging with it directly.

I use it to monitor my UPS and shut down my servers in the case of a power outage.
I also use it to manage the docker containers on my network as well as to run my search index, I have a lot of bandwidth left so I'm going to keep stuffing this bitch's pussy until she can't take no more.
Any little service you don't want to have your main machines have to waste resources on she can fit it.

Low power systems universal systems. They work for everything from embedded to network to stand alone systems. Nice to have when you want to put a computer somewhere.

My router is custom built and my servers run 24/7 a unexpected shutdown will damage them, my pi will make sure my devices will shutdown gracefully in the case of a power outage, the other tools supplement my other hosted applications that I use during my day to day.
I also run a low power setup all of those devices draw less than 60w idle including my network gear.
Any more questions I don't mind discussing it with you and perhaps you might join home server general.

I use it to watch old 480i sd video on my crt tv. It's impossible to get a real ntsc composite video signal out of any modern device without expensive external converters that cost $100 and up. The rpi is the only modern device that can still do this out of the box.

Unlikely, the browser is a bigger problem than the OS.
Anonymous No.106327371

I do, I like being self sufficient and the upkeep cost is cheaper than buying a plan. many companies like bitwarden actually give you a means to host things yourself while enjoying their tools and admittedly the pi was rotting in my shelf until I learned how to do this.

Holy autism. You could do S-video, SCART, or component (all work with CRTs), but you choose the output that only barely gets beaten by RF modulators as the absolute SHITTIEST video standard in existence just to nostalgia farm.
Anonymous No.106328907
>>106328384
You need expensive converters for all of those methods. Literally nothing made today is capable of outputting a 15khz ntsc signal that a crt tv can display except a raspberry pi's composite out. And the stuff I'm watching is tv quality video so I'm not going to gain that much from s-video.

tell me you have no real use for it without telling me you have no real use for it
most rpi uses for tech people don't require a lot of ram. it's usually for simple network services, shields with all kinds of sensors and shit. only kids on "le diy laptop" use it with a graphical interface. and it's still shit for that purpose even with a lot of ram
