I have forgotten how to write with a pen. Keyboard is faster, more readable and it doesn't decay.

I've been wondering about this because lately whenever the topic comes up on here people are quick to say they use a pen and paper all the time, I on the other hand don't remember the last time I wrote something that wasn't a form to fill out with pen and paper, and I can't really see any reason why that would change anytime soon.
I would have expected that to be closer to the norm, I dunno if I'm the odd one.

It's down to like two times a year by now, maybe less but, sometimes I get the urge to write by hand in my journal instead of in the digital journal. I started keeping journal about 5 years ago now, the first 6 or 7 months I did it by hand but then I found a good app and that quickly took over.
Even back then when I started, it was partly to keep/improve my handwriting skills usable because I realized I wasn't writing shit by hand anymore. Didn't really work anyway, it takes a lot of focused effort to change your handwriting to a better one when you've been writing a certain natural way for 20 years.

Writing in a journal by hand daily would help NPCs learn introspection and healthy skepticism so that is probably why tptb want to avoid penmanship. Something about writing your thoughts by hand connects you to a force/intuition/God/something that typing doesn’t do

Seriously nigger? I've seen much more bit rot than paper rot. I still find old drawing and shitty texts from my childhood. Grandama always shows mw the ones at her place. Not even mentioning old timey manuscripts because there weren't any keyboards back then. But handwritten text from my youth vs digital text from my youth? Handwritten won bigly.

Typing is faster. You think a phrase and it's pretty much done. On paper, you think a sentence and you're still writing the first few words, so you repeat the ending of the sentence in your mind over and over as you write it. Plus, this very same reason improves your summarizations skills because you get too lazy to write all that shit.

I only doodle notes to self because handwriting helps retention versus typing. My handwriting was dogshit before computers were widespread anyways, can't even read it half of the time but I can remember what I wrote.

I write fast with both a keyboard and a pen. Sounds like a (you) problem.
>more readable
Default fonts are shit, so not really.
>doesn't decay
Except drives fail all the time. You should know the adage to always backup because of that.
You failed to provide good arguments. Let me try:
>keyboard doesn't tire you out when you have a long writing session
>keyboard does not in general give you wrist strain and aching fingers
>keyboards allows people with chicken scratch handwriting to write as ugly as everyone else, not uglier. They're ugliness equalizers
>keyboards last much longer than pens
>you get easy access to spell checking and dictionaries when using a keyboard
So that's that. Pen and paper is fully free form, you can write anything. Nigger, moon roones, dirty poems and anecdotes, example drawings on the side, math, whatever organization. Dystopian corrupt fags of whatever political inclination will insist that you use a keyboard, societies which arent a clown circuses unable to function will let you write however you want.

use pen and paper for shit that you would be fine with having destroyed at a moment's notice.
I have a bunch of cheap ass copy paper that I use for manual problem solving when working through tough problems. once I reach a solution, I will make it permanent my recording the problem-solving process in code or in a document or whatever on the computer.
you can also just draw stuff, take a picture of it, and then import it to your computer for making permanent.

For work I still write with pen and paper for tracking inventory checkouts and times as well as logging palette marker creation.

Even at half wpm, I remember always going over the sentence in my head over and over as I finish writing it on paper, meanwhile typing this I go the thought in my once and it comes out in the screen.

>>106332839
No, it's not worse. It's slower and forces you to think the thought in your head over and over again. That makes it better. The thought "sticks" better thru pure repetition. Unless you're an NPC with no internal monologue.

Also, if you use shorthand, you should later take the shorthand note and rewrite it in full, going over the thought at least a couple times more. That's why you'd remember it better and why every metric shows it to be better.

I can still write. Slower than typing the same thing....but i can write and cursive.

Zoomer Gen? Do they KNOW what cursive even IS?!
Anonymous No.106337657 [Report]
>>106332039
I think cursive is more linking letters together, it's "faster" but not as fast as I can type because each kb key touch is a whole letter being written. I'm saving minutes typing a paragraph or 3 than writing it out.

It's like with horses and the first cars. I'm sure ppl thought they were a fad or for the rich only. Then they became mainstream, then affordable. Then they put up laws that said you can't ride horse into town or gave you less places to tie your horse.

It's 2025. Who uses horses besides special Amish rules to get around NYC?

I got a summer job teaching math to 6th graders and they didn't know how to write. They had been given iPads all day, every day by the school since covid. The teachers loved it because it made the kids shut up and they never had to grade anything, since it was all electronic. The kids loved it because they could doom-scroll on instagram all day and the "security lockout" had a million work-arounds. The parents loved it because the kids got to take their iPads home so they didn't have to watch their kids and they "got a free iPad".

They hold pencils like you would hold a hammer and didn't know basic mathematical symbols ( % + = - / > < x etc). They are going to get obliterated by indians in the workplace, probably by design. I had a student ask me how to write the number 8 properly since he never learned. He was drawing two comically large circles connected with a straight line like a barbell. 99% of teachers belong in concentration camps for this.

not at this school. They type in an answer and if its wrong it gives them the correct one after 3 "tries". I had a kid show me how he got it done so fast and he was just spamming random numbers, then scrolled to the bottom of the explanation, then copied the correct answer. I'm sure its not the same software everywhere but at this particular district, the kids are fucked.

>Tell Ea-nasir: Nanni sends the following message:

When you came, you said to me as follows: ‘I will give Gimil-Sin fine quality copper ingots.’ You left then but you did not do what you promised me. You put ingots which were not good before my messenger and said: ‘If you want to take them, take them; if you do not want to take them, go away!’

What do you take me for, that you treat somebody like me with such contempt? I have sent as messengers gentlemen like ourselves to collect the bag with my money but you have treated me with contempt by sending them back to me empty-handed several times, and that through enemy territory. Is there anyone among the merchants who trade with Telmun who has treated me in this way? You alone treat my messenger with contempt! On account of that one mina of silver which I owe you, you feel free to speak in such a way, while I have given to the palace on your behalf 1,080 pounds of copper, and Umi-Abum has likewise given 1,080 pounds of copper, apart from what we both have had written on a sealed tablet to be kept in the temple of Samas.

How have you treated me for that copper? You have withheld my money bag from me in enemy territory; it is now up to you to restore my money to me in full.

Take cognizance that from now on I will not accept here any copper from you that is not of fine quality. I shall from now on select and take the ingots individually in my own yard, and I shall exercise against you my right of rejection because you have treated me with contempt.
