Longevity / Age Reversal Technology & Research
The next big thing to invest in, logically, is age reversal technology and research. Specially now that the AI bubble is about to pop, and it turns out it can't fix all of our medical problems.
The very first company to successfully commercialize an age reversal therapy will be worth trillions overnight. Literally everyone benefits from it, since everyone suffers from aging (duh!). That's 8+ billion potential clients and will keep growing as long as humans keep breeding.

The billionaires wish to live forever too, so it's in their own interest to invest in this technology for themselves. They'll look younger for longer and become richer, all with one investment.

Don't say nobody warned you. You don't want to miss out on becoming rich with the next big thing, do you?

You're assuming there isn't a technological fix for those issues too. Besides, just reversing your age will already significantly lower your risk of getting cancer and other aging-related diseases.
>you can just digitise and shed the flesh
You'll also die in the process, and your digital "self" will just be somebody else with your memories.
Same as giving an identical twin all your memories. That won't make the twin suddenly become you.

Uploading yourself is not a path to immortality. It's just fancy digital cloning.

It doesn't have to happen in one go. Just like with AI, anti-aging also has it's own exponential curve until "longevity escape velocity" is achieved.
As long as you keep taking the latest therapies, and the amount of lifespan extension keeps increasing with each new therapy, eventually you'll live long enough until one single therapy is all it takes to become immortal.

People have this very black and white, all or nothing, view of anti-aging technology. All it takes is a treatment that can extend your life by 2 years for every year of therapy.

I just don't see age reversal ever being anything but a niche luxury product, even if the tech is flawless and magical.
The poor, the disabled, the substance abusers, the people with no future, anyone living in an area or working in an environment with a low life expectancy etc. There's a whole hell of a lot people who'd get zero benefit in any way from suddenly going from 50 to 30.

Your mistake is assuming that biology isn't enough. There are many animals that can live for centuries, and some that are biologically immortal. Biology has already done it, for some animals.

We happen to have a shitty biology that breaks down in less than 100 years, but it can be fixed.
Digitizing yourself isn't even plausible considering that we can't even get an AI to behave and learn like humans do. How do you expect to run your brain on a computer if we can't even emulate a much simpler with AI?

We are body, soul and spirit. The soul is the thinking, conscious part where all your memories reside (the actual "you"). The soul communicates with the physical world through the body (which includes the brain of course) and with God through the spirit, but only after that connection has been restored at the new birth. It's also this very spirit that keeps the person alive.

You can clone the physical body, but how are you going to rewire the soul back into it? You'd be animating an "information zombie", not preserving a real person.

Assuming you have it all down in the tech department, it would be very difficult for anybody to prove the cloned person isn't the real person, so it'd probably make somebody a lot of money regardless.

How much of your brain can you replace until you are not yourself anymore?
There is a scifi story by Stanislaw Lem about that question: "Do you exist, Mr Jones?" where a race driver has so many accidents that all his body parts are getting replaced by artificial parts until he's completely android. Because he can't pay the expenses for the replacement parts, the company producing them demands them back, which would mean disassembling him. Then at court an AI judge (because he's supposedly absolutely neutral) is in charge to solve this case.

>Unless reverse aging means a magic pill that makes you wake up the next morning looking like you were 20
That would be magic. If such a pill were made, it would lead to a more youthful look gradually, not instantaneously. Aging is supposed to be a consequence of permanent DNA damage, resulting in bodily functions decaying and the body trying to make up for it as it is designed to. But that only goes so far before organs start shutting down and dying.

All of the cells that make up "you" are descendents of cells that originate with your zygote. When your cells die and get replaced, they are direct descendents of your original cell. I'm not trying to say whether or not that matters, but it's what people are talking about. It's also why an organ grown from skin cells reverted to stem cells would still be a part of you, but a clone (at least how we currently know how to make clones) would merely be an identical twin.

If the process of neuron replacement is done slowly, and only while you're aware, then you can be sure that you're still yourself after the process is done. You can prove it to yourself, but to nobody else.
If the process involves any loss of consciousness, or happens while you're asleep, then you can no longer be sure. You might have died in the process, and something else woke up with your memories.

You can Ship of Theseus your brain as long as continuity is maintained during the process.

There are animals who live much longer than we do, and also tend to have lower risk of cancer. There's also a few biologically immortal species.
It's an issue specifically with OUR biology, not with biology in general. So it can definitely be fixed with enough research.

The problem then is whether you'd still be human after the changes needed to achieve biological immortality. Probably not, since your DNA might become incompatible with unmodified humans.

At least we know that biological immortality is possible, a few species are actually immortal.
Meanwhile, there's no proof that it's possible to emulate the brain on a deterministic binary computer.

Lobsters are technically biologically immortal, but their shells limit their lifespan. They don't become frail and infertile with age like we do.

Congratulations for being assfucked by the same rich people over and over again.
Here's the truth bomb - you can't do jack fucking shit to completely stop or lol reverse aging without figuring out how to beat Hayflick limit. The only known cells in human body that are doing it are very specific kinds of stem cells and literally cancer cells. Are you really going to give yourself omega cancer because Sam Altman told you so?

"Immortal" brain will not save your ass from total failure of multiple organs... and death. I suppose multifaggotrillionaires will be able to afford 24/7 Chemo- and Radiotherapy, but it's also slowly killing healthy cells, lol.

Immortality doesn't exist. It is a massive cope by people who can't wrestle with their own mortality. Everything you know and care for will be gone at some point. Including yourself. You can't win against entropy.
