can anyone help me install xlibre on cachy os? i dont want to use transgender software. it's not in the package manager therefore idk how to install it because im retarded. thanks. also they say the aur version is bad on the xlibre official website.
how do i set it up once and then just have it update by itself?

I don't know if anyone packaged it for cachy, but you can compile it manually if it isn't packaged

I have XLibre's overlay enabled on Gentoo, should I switch to it?
I don't believe in ever switching to Wayland so using an x11 fork will be a necessity in the future, and today that means XLibre, but is it mature yet?

I am one of the maintainers of the gentoo overlay.

If you want to use on of the newly added features in Xlibre, then yes, go ahead and use it.

Beware though that, while Xlibre gets a lot of additions, there are also lots of breakages.
If you use the live ebuild, you may see bugs randomly appearing and disappearing.
If you use a release, you will only see the bugs from that release, which you can then backport patches for from master.

If you want to give it a try, go for it. The overlay should be in the official overlay list.

If you want more stability, stay with Xorg.
If you want to try Xlibre, or want to use some of the new features or improvements it has, use Xlibre.

The Xnamespaces and TearFree by default made me decide to try it out, but after booting, the desktop environment works but I can neither move the mouse nor use the keyboard
I had to force shutdown my laptop and chroot to fix things, I tried updating to the live ebuild but xlibre-server didn't compile, so I'm back on Xorg

I did see "-mouse%" and "-keyboard%" in the USEflags when updating xlibre-drivers in chroot but changing those didn't do anything for some reason, maybe I'm missing something, who knows. Marking the "synaptics" and the "evdev" flags didn't do anything either. I double checked that I was writing everything to the right files and directories and didn't make any typos to package.use/xlibre-drivers but that didn't help either

I'll stick to Xorg for a few more months

You can use the modesetting driver with it now, and also have glamor acceleration.

Add pic related to /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-nvidia.conf
Update with your package manager fully before you attempt this and restart.

Then use your AUR package manager to run the following commands one at a time, do not install all of the packages at once. (Using paru in example)
>paru -S xlibre-server-bootstrap
>paru -S xlibre-input-libinput
>paru -S xlibre-server
You will be asked to replace some stuff, say yes.

When updating your computer, do not update xlibre in the same restart as nvidia drivers, or you will have to reinstall driver packages from console.

Debian doesn't have this problem.
