How do enrypted messaging apps work with images?
If someone sends me an image, is it automatically saved in my cache unecrypted? Whats the point of encryption if the files dont stay in the app and go straight to my flash storage

If the developer passed security 101, they re-encrypt it before storing it locally. While it is being displayed it is only stored in ram (which could also be encrypted).

Depends on the messenger, but a decent one designed for full privacy would keep any data used by the app in an encrypted database file and cleanup memory upon closing. Briar does just that. Others like Softros LAN Messenger secure the transfers but stores data as regular files without encryption.

If you're using one of those apps in America, assume they don't work at all.
