Dunno how long my MSI GE78 will last itself with its i7-13900HX.

Toying with a T14s Gen 1. thing isn't so bad, keyboard feels better than the damn Pixelbook, but i got keys that don't work sporadically.

Looking to switch from 2020 Macbook pro. From what I can tell the X1 Carbon Gen 9 has what I'm looking for for about $350.
I'm looking for battery life, >=1080p screen, thin bezels, good keyboard, and all the other things a man wants in a laptop.
Are there any better options than something like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/286775628561 but with more storage? Is there a better bang for buck thinkpad?

Looking to replace my x220 (bought second hand in 2017 for $100 (sticker said STOLEN PROPERTY (but the nice people at computrace unlocked it))) with a refurbished model. X13 gen 1 seems like the same form factor and affordable.. however elitebooks are cheaper and seem more maintainable (e.g. replaceable ram).. The aluminium looks so shit though. What should I do ? I went from a t440p as my daily to a 2019 MacBook air I got for free that I ran mint on then a T480 and then my let's note now

The MacBook air unfortunately has the most satisfactory keyboard to me with the let's note being a distant second. The ThinkPads have meh keyboards that more than do the job however.

Unless you ABSOLUTELY need the ports or even the CD ROM just get a t480. (Or if you get a good auction on yaj like I did but shipping to USA was still 50$, the laptop itself was a 50 Sv9 model)

I have a Legion 7 rather than a stinkpad.
I've been paying for the extended warranty for the past 3 years.
right click on trackpad wore out and when removing my upgrades I found out the original wireless card was dead (maybe I zapped it with static, not sure) so asked them to fix that also.
Lenovo then replaced the entire top case (keyboard, keyboard deck, trackpad, etc.) and the entire motherboard lol.

So overall, they didn't care that I had opened the laptop previously and replaced more than needed to make sure the issue was fixed and i now have a freshly repasted machine with a new CPU/GPU with no miles on them.

Would buy from lenovo again.

I had an x220 and was not impressed with the quality (hinges kept coming loose, trackpad deck cracked because of the card slot gaping hole underneath it, antenna cover was wobbly, screen bezel warped from heat of screen, etc.)
I replaced it with an 820 G3 which was a magnesium shell. thing was built like a tank honestly. I don't think the new ones are as well built though.

It's okay. Be mindful of the slow CPUs and the (practical) limit of 16 GB RAM. i3 and below are slow enough to be unusable on the modern web.

Case is rough plastic, on the heavy side, reasonably sturdy. For battery use beyond 2.5 hours you need one of the 6-cell batteries which stick out of the case. Keyboard and touchpad are comfy. Maintenance is a little tricky thanks to captive screws that are too tall to loosen in one step and extremely delicate clips along the rear edge.

Boy I am glad I went with 32 GB RAM for my first Thinkpad. I thought it might be a bit of an overkill since I usually just have a couple of web browser tabs open, but I recently switched from Chrome back to Firefox and apparently having about 12-15 tabs open (and no crazy extension) takes like 16 GB RAM on its own.

I have a T495 and I would not recommend it. I have X220 and P52 and T495 just cannot compare when it comes to quality. T495 feels like a toy, also if you add ram to the one expandable slot, make sure not to grab the laptop with one hand or wiggle it as the ram stick will move and freeze the OS. I don't know what you do or need a laptop for, but I can recommend you a P52, as it's a desktop of laptops in performance. Maybe you will find it heavy if you are weak, but it wont let you down.
