is it logistically possible to make a new App Store to RUIN Apple and Google's domination of the App Store landscape? for example not only making a new App Store but have it be FOSS but as non-profit as possible just to spite Apple/Google

yea i am completely ignorant of the mobile landscape. i do everything on PC. always have avoided phones - i hate them in fact

The problem is getting critical mass.
Developers don't care about it because you have no users.
Users and phone companies don't care about it because you have no apps.
The only companies I could see maybe pulling this off are Apple, Samsung or Steam.

okay interesting - however it seems to look like shit and none of the apps on there are for profit. my idea was more like, the apps -are- for profit but the app store is non-profit. a sub-idea is that a person putting apps on the store must be from either USA or select European countries and provides their ID to prove it - or they cant open a store page

the moment someone is outed as an Indian/etc their store page is terminated
