Is it even possible to make Windows private? I don't want to play around with Linux, but if there's no way, I'll have to install troonix.

just don't connect it to the internet if you need a private workstation

Depends how private you want it. You can get 90% of what you'd get on Linux with a hardened Windows, but if you want maximum privacy then Linux it is.

Not if it's newer than Win7, which's reasonably salvageable but not ideal like XP.

no. windows is an autoupdating kiosk ad os with some sort of tracking in every piece of reactnative pseudowebshit software and every system service, it is literary not meant to be private, to not collect data or not make unsolicited network requests all the time. it is not your computer. it is really a glorified web browser to run o365 suite. you are not meant to disable any services or fiddle with any regkeys. updates would reverse your changes.

in other hand arch linux with i3/sway window manager installed by hand following the arch wiki making any unsolicited network requests and doing any data collection you haven't told it to do in the background would be a huge anomaly (see nethogs - the output should be completely empty on idle, except for networkmanager occasionally pinging your router to check connectivity).

Windows is private enough for most people. Telemetry does not collect any personally identifying information from your computer and the rest is just a matter of not downloading sketchy executables from the internet. I would highly recommend setting up a firewall, like tinywall or simplewall (the latter still works on Windows 7), since it will stop all software by default from phoning home, no matter if its actual malware or cracked photoshop.
>b-b-b-but muh prism
schizo rumbling. PRISM was about cloud services, not local software.

If you're making malware or something you can simply use the software in a VM.
Anonymous No.106358176
Yes, it possible. But you have to give yourself a count, which will not always be so. For good reason, instead of changing the system, it is better to remove it. You never know if it will work in the future or be fixed. Try Simplewall or Portmaster. Firewall is the most reliable way to prevent surveillance in Windows.

anyone screeching like a vegan about privacy on 4Chitwood is a hypocritical nigger
if you actually gave a shit about your privacy then you wouldn't be here voluntarily begging the NSA to analyze and track every post you make on the biggest fake anonymity honeypot on earth
if you preach about privacy on 4Chitwood you've already proven you don't give a single fuck about privacy
i bet you preach about privacy while posting all day on facebook too you virtue signaling nigger
if you care about privacy then prove it and fuck off and don't come back
or just keep proving in this thread with every post you make that you don't give a single fuck about privacy and are just a virtue signaling nigger

It is, it just takes some effort, nowhere near the same amount of effort it'd take for you to properly transition to Linux, which unlike those retards who run archinstall and then love to post their trans neofetchs would like to believe, doesn't come pre hardened and would be far easier to fuck with given how it comes with no fucking firewall.
If you're super schizophrenic you would need control over your router and preferably another PC to check, but I mean, if you need to ask this shit here you're probably too stupid to do anything like that right?

My Windows 10 LTSC installation has 0 connections in Wireshark until I open a browser or the updater. Stop being paranoid about a boogeyman you created in your head.

the apple file scanning was a hoax, spread by a single spergout on HN that was later debunked. 4chan still has to obey they law, just like any other service out there and they had to pass the IP address of the guy (who was very stupid btw, like imagine threatening a cop like this and thinking that "in minecraft" will work). The rest is just schizo mumbling.

Sticking a linux usb into your computer and clicking next isn't hard.
