Self-hating zoomer thread.
Anonymous No.106366317 >>106376039
there are nerds and non-nerds in each generation, you can't boil it down to that. i've met plenty of "normie" millennials who are tech-illiterate, and plenty of boomers and gen-z (i'm gen-z) who are tech-literate
interestingly though, i'm doing a cs/math degree right now and the ratio of tech-literate to tech-illiterate people in my math classes is way higher than my cs classes, i'm guessing cause math majors have to get comfortable with latex and actually thinking but your average webshitter cs tard can scrape by just chatgptting, no brain requried

Millennials are good at millennial technology, NOT modern technology. There is a huge difference.

Well, yes actually, in a sense. You ultimately have to consider what skills you need to be adapted to your environment; nothing else really matters. There is no "objective" tech literacy that goes for any situation and any point in history.

and what even is an "old filesystem"? Like UFS or something? Almost all modern filesystems have roots dating back to the 80s and 90's in one form or another.

>>106366894

But literal chimps can use smartphones. There is no "skill" to using them, they're literally DESIGNED to be easy to use.
That's why I cannot understand why my boomer parents need to ask me to fix "issues" for them so often, when 90% of the time the button they need was in the hamburger menu in the top-right, as you should expect.
It's literally just common sense.

>>106367438

There are zoomers purchasing sexual content but don't know how to download them so they fucking record it. And the icing on the cake is they often times can't even record it using system software on their walled garden without it alerting the other person.

Anonymous No.106372267 >>106377982

zoomers are stuck with whatever the app lets them do. if the machine transcription gets it wrong they're too dumb to fix it. Any time it deviates the tiniest amount from what they actually want they are fucked. So they adapt by rewiring their brains to want only the things the tech companies allow them to want. I don't consider them fully human. More like factory farmed chicken.

The only thing you can do is to rebel against the norms of your generation. I've still taken apart an engine block, fixed basic HVAC stuff, and know my way around power tools and programmed in assembly even though that's not expected of my generation.
Anonymous No.106372895
tech literacy is dependent on the individual. Every generation has geniuses/retards. Imo boomers are the most tech literate but there's probably fewer of the most skilled. Followed by gen x, slightly less literate for the most part, but slightly more of them. So on and so forth. I think this curve is changing tho given modern work ethic and available tools.

compare the number of software available to do any given thing, number of distros, number of computing hardware options now to the 90s. there's x100 less more options and everything's less locked.

you used to have to pay for programs that do basic shit like video editing now you have 20 open source options that mog any paid one in every category

>compare the number of software available to do any given thing
more options is not inherently good. if anything, it becomes a false choice. There's only 2 or 3 options that are actually viable, and everything else is trash.

>number of distros
yeah and 99% of them are trash. the 1% suffers greatly when everyone is so desperate to reinvent the wheel.

>you used to have to pay for programs that do basic shit like video editing now you have 20 open source options that mog any paid one in every category
most of it is sponsored fully or in part by big corporations, and the ones that aren't almost always have an Achilles Heel. I've wasted so much of my time with OSS that I would have rather paid for if it weren't fucking $500-$1000.

software and technology as a whole is on a steep and sharp decline. more options is an indicator of this.

>millennial woes
Their youth is gone and the best years are behind them. Their women are withering away, many of whom never even blossomed into motherhood. They have no assets or stake in the economy. They have no social standing and mostly stand alone.
Like an old work animal whose time has come and needs to be put down, like a stray dog who overstayed it's welcome, like an old man who understands so well the point where oblivion takes you forever, it's over for millennials they are finished.
