more options is not inherently good. if anything, it becomes a false choice. There's only 2 or 3 options that are actually viable, and everything else is trash.

yeah and 99% of them are trash. the 1% suffers greatly when everyone is so desperate to reinvent the wheel.

most of it is sponsored fully or in part by big corporations, and the ones that aren't almost always have an Achilles Heel. I've wasted so much of my time with OSS that I would have rather paid for if it weren't fucking $500-$1000.
software and technology as a whole is on a steep and sharp decline. more options is an indicator of this.
