Post tech you bought recently that brought you satisfaction
I got myself a pixel 9a and put grapheneos on it. It's the first ever smartphone I'm happy with, every other phone has been a miserable experience.

I bought a pair of used Homepods. They actually sound really good in stereo. I put them on little wall-mounted shelves, they're a really good out of the way audio setup.

When is Google expected to reduce prices on these now that the 10 is out?

Yes you'd probably be satisfied with it
I'd expect sales to happen either black Friday (shit), back to school in the spring (better), and Memorial Day (best). It follows Samsung's release schedule, and Google drops prices to try undercutting those sales.

Yeah man I think the camera bumps, boxes, and fucking shelves are ugly as hell. Not to mention asymmetrical ones the make it impossible to lay the phone flat. And cases can sometimes mitigate, yet there's still a giant stupid bump. I hate iPhone for starting this trend.

Replaced my Fairphone 4 with a Pixel 8 last Black Friday. Hoping to get at least 6 more years out of it. GrapheneOS is based af.

I bought picrel IR transmitter/receivers and flashed ESPHome on them. Also 3d printed cases and soldered usb-c pigtails to power them.
I spent an hour recording codes from remotes and now I can control my AC and tower fan with home assistant. Very comfy.
My next project is turning my window fan into a controllable unit. There's no IR so I have to use a relay board/octocoupler to bypass the physical buttons. I want the physical buttons to work too so its ballooning into a bigger project than I thought. Probably cheaper to just buy an IR controlled box fan.

I hope you didn't pay full price for it, since that would have been a pretty bad blunder.
The regular 9 can be had for almost the same price as this because it's almost always on discount, and google actually lowers the prices of their phones over time.

I also got the 9a recently and I had no idea that it's so popular. Seems like a decent device if I couldn't care less about gaming speed or whatever I could gain by getting the more expensive model. It's plenty fast for everything I do with it. The camera is good too. What I look for in a phone is good water resistance, a big battery and wireless charging. A long software support is nice to have as well. After that I don't really know what else to ask for so the more expensive model sounds unnecessary.

My 6a's screen broke twice so I decided to get a 9a recently.
The 6a felt higher quality, with the metal frame around the camera bump. The hard clear plastic on the back felt much more solid than the flimsy sheet of matte plastic on the 9a.

Absolutely love the 9a's overall design though. Very reminiscent of the iPhone 4. I just wish Google would stop placing the volume rockers dead center where a lot of phone grips will press them.
Headphone hack and SD card support would also be nice.
Perfect phone otherwise though

I have used the large pointy one from pic related for pretty much all cooking for the last 10 years.
5 dollar Thai knife I originally found in Bangkok, but later found a local asian grocery that also carries them. Great shape for cutting small areas precisely with the tip, while also offering a large blade for efficient chopping.
I've given many away because I love the shape so much.
As long as this company stays in business I see no need to ever own an expensive knife t b h

Its an okay phone. In may it started getting updates that modify the boot-loader preventing OS downgrades under the claim of security patches. I found the update to android 16 slowed the phone down a lot, and changed how notifications are handled (forces more grouping that I do not like). Sold it as a result.

>Did Google ever stop using shit hardware in Pixel phones?
no, both the 9a and 10 are affected by the battery shit and will be artificially limited in maximum charge % starting from 200 cycles
how people are ok with buying a 1000$ phone with an explosive battery that will go to shit in less than a year of use is beyond me

currently using the pixel 9 to replace my s10e. I cannot remember this phone ever being slow or sluggish. screen is good enough, camera is good enough (maybe the pictures are over processed), battery is okay. My verdict is that the phone is good enough if you're not playing video games on it.

I'm still on pixel 3a with andoid 12 and last security update was May 2022.

Is it really risky to use this phone? What if I avoid random apks from internet and ONLY download from the Google Play store?

I ask because pixel 9a is on sale in Canada rn. PSA to those with pixel 6a, you can get an additional $150 USD of Google credit if your 6a qualifies for the batter reimbursement

Best 50 dollars I ever spent. Coffee grinding technology has really come a long way. Grind just as many beans as you need to make fresh coffee. The flavor is stronger and the beans do not lose potency as they sit in a can like pregrounded coffee does. I considered buying a combo grinder/maker but if your grinder or maker ever dies, you lost both.

This surprised me. And so far its only been used for the entire bathroom, the couch, and some window vents.
I am genuinely looking forward to cooperative weather, so I can do the textile interior of the car, and the textile seats.

It do make me wonder how much of a upgrade one that can do the entire floors and walls of the house is, just a little bit faster.

how do y'all deal with the inability to fix the exif orientation?

I vibe coded my own app, based on kuroba ex's code, but it doesn't support multi-image yet

>By default, EXIF metadata is stripped for captured images and only includes the orientation. Stripping metadata for videos is planned but not supported yet. Orientation metadata isn't stripped since it's fully visible from how the image is displayed so it doesn't count as hidden metadata and is needed for proper display. You can toggle off stripping EXIF metadata in the More Settings menu opened from the settings dialog. Disabling metadata stripping will leave the timestamp, phone model, exposure configuration and other metadata. Location tagging is disabled by default and won't be stripped if you enable it.

Who knows. You could pay more but mostly what you are getting is more consistently ground beans. Do you really care that your flakes are all within +-1 nanometer of each other? They are probably also better built but I don't know of any long term reviews that show me a 300 dollar grinder is going to give me 300 dollars of lifetime value.
The most important thing in coffee making is the freshness of the grounded beans. You want to make your coffee soon as they are grounded, so having a grinder that will grind what you want easily and encourage you to make coffee with those fresh grounds are 95% of what you want.
