Do we count Linux From Scratch as distro? It's more of a set of directions for 100% DIY operating system, but it's "the best" due to simply being whatever the fuck you want it to be. Tho I suppose being a complex DIY project can be considered a flaw, too - there's no cute installator, unless I suppose you make an image of your distro with one.

I installed void in under 5 minutes and it's been really good. Arch/gentoo is too unstable and Ubuntu too bloated. Void is just right for me. I won't debate this as it's based on personal experience.

Hello, someone that’s spent more time at a computer than any of you here. The only reason to install anything other than Debian with XFCE is because you’re bored, or because some random software you’re trying to run recommends or even “requires” Ubuntu, Mint or Fedora. And if you don’t know why I put requires in quotes, you should install Debian like I said.

Everything else is for people that have interests in how OS’s work, or they just want to spend time learning about what’s out there, etc.

I think it became dogshit especially once they started this shitty poorly planned migration from Yast initiative. There's nothing good about that distro anymore and they do faggot shit like stealth change packages to other repos like how they switched neofetch to tranny fetch silently when it's the worst functioning fetch out of all of them. Or the fact they can't provide a package that keeps the free nvidia drivers in sync with the correct packages something every other distro has found a solution to. Or the fact they keep playing musical chairs with codecs breaking everything on a whim.
They really went down the shitter and I will never forgive them for destroying what was one of the best distros

>"toy" computer that you enjoy tinkering and optimizing more than actual use
Gentoo
>gaming, light tinkering, pretending to be a cool hacker by copying and pasting commands from reddit
Arch
>don't need fancy new drivers, it just needs to work reliably without too much headache
