F-droid official app sucks desu. I use Obtainium to get foss apps updates, you get them as soon as they are published by the developers on your preferred source (usually a git forge) and you don't have to wait for F-droid to build and publish it on their repo.

Syncthing-fork is great for syncing stuff to a home NAS since it negotiates firewall nonsense for you. I use it to back up Signal messages, photos, notes (from markor), my keepassxc database, and my location data (logged with the open source GPSLogger). None of this data touches the cloud.

It actually existed many years ago, I believe it was called ibsearch.xxx, but these days the site is just some shady blog unrelated to what it was. I may be misremembering this, but it might've been run by a fellow anon. He shut it down after some server hardware issues, possibly costs as well. And I haven't found anything close to it since. I'm not sure why nobody built it.
