I'm using ai-toolkit for the first time to train a qwen lora, and I have sample generation enabled. the sample generation is really slow - about 2x the time per image with the same settings as expected. I missing something?

Upscaled. One of the nice things about upscaling is that you can apply some more aggressive things on the upscale pass since it won't fuck up the base image gen.

So, i've finally updated nunchaku to the nightly 1.0 version, with cfg 1.0 i can finally reach 1 or 2s per iteration.

For all winfuck users that are struggling with nunchaku update , you have to install the correct(python and pytorch combo) whl wheel with pip AND updating the nunchaku from comfyui manager to nightly or else it won't work.

Using the same Chroma training settings with with Diffusion-Pipe and the imminent OneTrainer Chroma support, OneTrainer takes ~45% less time to train the same data set.

If you turn off the offloading (assuming you have enough vram), the speeds are equal, so the problem here is the Diffusion-Pipe offloading being very unoptimized.

I like the skin/detail of Wan at higher resolutions compared to the (albeit limited) testing I did with Qwen upscaling.
As for directly doing t2i with Wan, prompt adherence is worse and it sometimes produces some real bodyhorror, had to cherrypick some gens for this comparison. It also adds backgrounds without being prompted for them, this can be both a blessing and a curse for both models. With Qwen you have to be careful to actually include enough detail in the prompt, it won't really implicitly add stuff to the image. Wan will just do whatever.

I haven't actually messed around with upscaling latents for images since I found the results to be worse with Wan videos compared to upscaling in pixel space, so I didn't consider it. But thanks for the idea.

Yes, with offloading. On a 3060 you should be able to train a 512 resolution Chroma lora of ~25 images in ~2 hours using OneTrainer (its Chroma training support should be out any moment).

Meanwhile you can use Diffusion-Pipe which works well, but its offloading is much slower.

Is there a background removal tool that works on black backgrounds? I have a bunch of art that has black backgrounds but also black used as part of the art. I made a GIMP script that works on some of them but has some pretty big caveats and I got to wondering if this is the sort of workload that AI would excel in. Pic rel is an example.

General object knowledge, motion artifacts in movement, and slightly even general physics seem a bit worse than wan 2.2 even in these simple cherry picked gens?

Trained on crap ton of sports footage i guess so its a lot better for that, 10s possibility out of the box apparently, but that isn't really that big of a deal given even last frame extension in wan 2.2 is quite consistent by itself let alone with other workflows and tools
1080p generation looks pretty bad for that res, looks like it was trained for 720p and then at the last epoch or two or something trained on higher res footage, since the end result videos look like mid 720p gens that were just upscaled to 1080, and pretty badly at that, given the motion artifacts and grain

DOA if this is paid. If it's open weights then it can be picked apart and people can see if its better than wan 2.2 for some bigger use cases but seems like a nothingburger
