Not sure if he really pretends or thinks that everybody cares about Jai but I think he surely thinks they ought to (if they are the target audience aka C++[game]-devs) and thats fine. I for one can not wait for him to finally release it. I plan to buy the game just to support Jai's development. I have seen a recent keynote of his from a conference and i was blown away at how convenient low-level development should really be coming from c++. It really is a pain and so i hope Jai succeeds (if it really delivers on everything shown and promised). Here is the video https://youtu.be/IdpD5QIVOKQ?si=ST44xwNbc633wqmT

His thoughts on OS are absolutely based, I agreed with probably 99% of it. I'm not sure more people would need that than his game though. Like the problem is, we're living in an era when nobody gives a fuck anymore (by nobody I mean 99%), because what's there, while being shitty, is good enough. To make anything not flop these days you either need to invent something never seen before (and an OS ain't that) or gazillions of money and backing of a large corpo or a gobernment. I mean you can still do it, but people just won't give a fuck. I can't blame them though, it's hard to care in this economic climate.

i think him proving (or being near the finishing line of proving) that he can make a system programming language basically by himself and garnering enough of a following in the closed beta to demonstrate real world usability (in addition to his sokoban game) is proof that he could make an OS happen. he even said he knows how to from his studies and he has absolute confidence in himself that he could do it if he took the time. but he also said hed only do it in the far away future so not sure if itll ever happen. in any case, id already be happy if he managed to finally release jai such that i could finally start ditching c++ for something sane

Haiku, much like all alt-OSs, will never actually be that usable because fuck all software is developed for it. Same for whatever blow wants to make.

You can daily drive it already. It's surprisingly good, stable and had lots of software.

Honestly if someone was to hand then a couple hundred thousands to hire Devs to work on drivers and stuff they would reach 1.0 in less than one year.

Well maybe one day open source cucks will realize their ways of cucking themselves and start selling their products and actually treating their sperg projects seriously. Because when you officially sell your product it is now protected from Microsoft and Apple stealing your source code and it also allows you to pay people salaries. And now, since it is not some MIT KEKOLD license, you also obligated to provide support which means no more spending donations on HRT and League of Legends skins, you will have to actually fix bugs, which means the product is a real working thing and not a hobbyist entertainment.

Haiku it's running on peanuts. Like 2 fat amerifags spend more on peanut butter that it costs yearly to run everything.

And when they have any money they hire extra Devs with bounties.

I'm astonished of what they could achieve with a bit of funds
