Actual AI possible?
Is it currently possible to make an actual AI?

As somebody who's not into tech, I just learned about LLM and how they worked, and now, I'm interested if we can make an actual artificial intelligence,

Is there any real research about this? I found some but they have little to no answers

Define "actual AI".

Research on actual AI is completely drown out by AI (LLM) speculation and sensationalistic news.
Try searching for "neural network" instead, LLM uses that but it can be used for more things than just stringing words together to fool humans.

Yeah, it's called ChatGPT/Claude/Gemini/Neurosama/Alphafold.
>b-but it doesn't fit my specific and arbitrary criteria
Okay, what is your definition of "actual" AI?

Transformers are the best algorithm at the moment.

As he said, not LLM, a true artificial intelligence

AI already exists. it can chat, write prose, write anything. it can code. it can diagnose illnesses. it can generate incredibly imagery.
you'll find nothing but scared techfags naysaying it here, because AI is coming for their jobs.

It can't code well. /g/ really is full of beginners.

I get that he asserted that. But he didn't define "actual AI".

for me it's quite clearly similar to human brain in the way it operates, with various organs in the brain, or areas whatever the fuck, functional areas, different functions, all at once, working at same "speed", feeding visual/audio/tactile (at least) data into it realtime. anything else is a scam and not real
also a brain takes like 20W of power so if it isn't thereabouts it's also fake not real needs to be analog brain not binary gpu

are there catatonic people that don't have obvious brain damage and nobody knows why they like that?

Nope. What none of those SV nerds understand is that it's not our brains that produce intelligence, the actual computation is done in the AETHER. The brain just docks into it and receives the answers. That's why it's so energy-efficient. Or did you think the brain actually make an exaFLOP (a billion billion) operations a second with only 10 watts of energy? No, it's merely a receiver.

So these nerds need to develop devices that can dock into the aether and make it do the computation for us. Actual intelligent machines will be next generation radios.

that's how analog computers work brainlet. you can add two numbers with infinitesimal cost. educate yourself: https://youtu.be/GVsUOuSjvcg

>true artificial
Oxymoron. It's either true intelligence or artificial intelligence.

brainlets out in force today
>artificial - Made by humans, especially in imitation of something natural.
you can have identical molecules but made artificially. they are the same thing, artificial denotes how it was made. not-natural. doesn't mean "fake" or "imitation". say like you are now imitating intelligence

Theoretically yes, practically no
We'll never get AI out of sequential clocked CPUs. We need significant advances in parallel computing, or even better analog computing
