/csg/ - Chink Shit General
Everything is already from China, but here we discuss the cheap chink shit you see on various sites.
1st rule of /csg/: If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

Right, got my Yaqi package today. I hoped that I could write it out before the next OP but oh well.

I'm yet to get the hang of it so that I actually run the blade across my face instead of picking up the lathe, and also finally get a feel as for how exactly I should shave in the first place, but it's definitely a massive step-up over the Wilkinson OTT crap. Obviously you don't have the OTT convenience and putting in the razor is tricky but it's manageable.

https://aliexpress.com/item/1005003379654288.html
A very nice hefty handle. Together with the Tile it comes 20g heavier than the Wilkinson which is definitely a plus when it comes to shaving.

https://aliexpress.com/item/1005002989055748.html
Solid lathe bowl. It's a thick dense plastic that almost feels like ceramic. The brush sits neatly in the designated groove.

https://aliexpress.com/item/32810912313.html
And speaking of the brush. Gave it, as well as the razor a bit of boiling water initiation, of course only waving the bristles in the hot water as to not melt the glue. The bristles are nice and soft, while the handle is very sturdy. The initial lathe was shit due to me not getting the proportions right but it definitely frothed up nicely.

Overall, very happy with the set. Not just because I got it at half the price but also because it's a genuinely nice shaving set. Guess I can now get a nicer shaving cream and start learning how exactly I should shave properly finally.

Oh yeah forgot to mention

The stand is nice and looks very classy. They had the thicker dark resin flow down to the darker, more translucent one giving it a nice look, however there is some white residue stuck inside it from milling the razor hole, but it's a minor defect.

If you want a good price/quality compromise, get prosano. The green one is what I have. It's fairly priced and it lasts for goddamn ever. Has a eucalyptus aroma though, which you may dislike as it's a scent I associate with older people. Seems to make girls with daddy issues go wild though, so that may be a bonus or a issue depending on your views on life. It's grown on me personally.
As for learning how to shave properly, don't neglect softening your hair (either shave after a shower, or add some warm water to a towel and wrap that around your chin for a few minutes before shaving). Makes a big difference. You'll fuck up a few times and it'll not be super fast the first few tries, but you'll get the hang of it entirely naturally and quickly.

>a scent I associate with older people
Right now I'm using Wars which is one of *the* most old man scents around. Mainly because it's piss cheap and it's either that or Lider if you go to the store. But Proraso Green, I'll keep that in mind next time I order razor blades. I'm yet to find my razor blade of choice since I don't even know what to look out for when judging a blade. Right now I'm running through Derby Premiums I had for years and haven't bothered to use.
>don't neglect softening your hair
I have ball pubes for facial hair so it's already very soft. My issue is that I don't know how to orientate my head, eyes and blade to have a proper shave. I do all kinds of gymnastics only to pick up the lathe without shaving anything. So my issue is mainly in the technique.

Based. I've been using the white one for a while and it's really good too. However it smells like citrus or something which I'm not too fond of, maybe I'll try the green one next time.

Green seems to be the most common, I've seen white and red at stores though. Red is supposedly sandalwood, so I might give that a try next. But as I already said, it seems to last ages, so that'll be quite some time. I like the green scent, it's just menthol and eucalyptus, very classic.

Personally I just get cheap ones in bulk and replace them a little more often. Seems to work out fine for me. If you have a 3D printer, print yourself a blade storage and just replace whenever it gets dull.
>So my issue is mainly in the technique.
Fair enough, the chin area is the hardest so you'll need some time to get the hang there, for everything else just move your head such that you somewhat stretch the skin you want to shave, place the razor at ~45 degrees to your skin and pull lightly. If your blades are sharp you should basically not need any pressure with your hand, the weight of the razor itself is enough. You'll get it eventually, I cut myself a few times when I got started too, it is what it is. Consider aftershave if you get razor burn too.

I've been ranting not to buy this cheap "rotary tool" in previous threads, and I maintain my stance in general, but I actually found a reasonable use for it; sanding down corrosion on battery contacts that got covered in battery acid.
Scratching the contacts with screwdrivers didn't seem to work, with this the tool has already paid for itself. Lucky little accident.
Still if you want a rotary tool that doesn't suck ass, take a bit more money and get a proper one.

3 bucks a pop, bought 2
I think this is my favourite edc item now.
type c charging, detachable clip that you can put on several ways, light up shell, strong main light with nice controls (holding the button goes into momentary boost mode), good lantern flood mode with 3 brightnesses and 2 colors, magnetic ass, hanging thingy for carabiner or rope.

it's almost as bright as my trustfire mt10

shutter 1/1000 iso 500 fixed settings

weird that flood mode goes from bright to dim, also on these settings it's hard to see but lowest mode is still pretty nicely bright up close. you can position the clip over the LEDs so it doesn't blind, sort of

it's really nice.
one thing I'm not testing for now is how long the battery lasts. sellers sheet says 200mah and 4-5h on lowest mode.
