Desktop Linux sucks because there's basically no use case for it.
Why would anyone invest serious money and effort into polished desktop Linux experience?
Where is the potential return on investment?
There isn't one.

RHEL sells support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux at 328.90 USD per year; this is a reoccurring revenue stream.
>Where is the potential return on investment?
Contributing to an open source resource such as Desktop Linux, theoretically provides a higher ROI than a proprietary OS (such as windows/ macos) as the R&D of multiple businesses (RHEL, SUSE, Ubuntu Pro) are invested independently to improve the overall ecosystem.

>inb4: linux is free!/ windows is a one time price!:
Linux and Windows are effectively subsided by businesses to make it so people can learn how to actually use the platforms outside of the workplace (i.e. schools get windows for free). Businesses need to pay for support plans and are willing to because when the tools they use to make money break they loose potential profits, i.e. when shit breaks they want it fixed ASAP.

until linux invests in providing photoshop-compatibility, it's a non-starter for me. Deeply unserious OS.
