I'm not poor and can afford a newer model. Try to respond without sounding mad.

I'm not poor and I don't spend my money on newer models that don't give me anything more.

Nah I'm joking. I'm running Samsung A70 since 2019, I'm keeping it alive with aliexpress parts, also had to pull couple of wires across the boards since flat cable connector is fucked.
I do get chink phones for my mom, usual poco stuff and last one I got is meme vivo x200 ultra with camera kit since mom is into photography yet can't haul dslr anymore since it's heavy and she's getting old.

This is just cope and you know it. By buying a newer model you get MORE. More years of security updates, you don't have to deal with software compatibility issues down the line. You get MORE out of having a bigger battery and faster hardware, faster charging times, etc.

I replaced my S23+ with an S25+, and there's a noticeable improvement in performance and screen quality. I'm not poor so I'm not bothered by paying for a new phone every couple of years

I did I bought myself a 100€ Motorola.
It's great all I needed was to install lineageOS and it's a great device have no issues, I am hoping to keep it for the next 6 years.

I liked my s10e better than my S24. I tried the new phone thing, found it to be pretty meh and just returned to using the s10e which wont ever have its bootloader locked, or have "updates" slow it down or change the camera processing or royally fuck up how notifications are handled and delivered.

Crazy that not getting os updates is actually real quality feature these days.

It's funny that years ago support, speed of getting updates was a driving factor for me and a lot of other people that pushed them to apple and samsung, instead of other makers like sony or Motorola. Like it was a massive sticking point in nearly every phone review.

Now that everyone is doing 3-7 years of updates, people seem to be focusing on the quality of the updates and what you get out of it, only to realize just being up to date isnt the end-all be-all.

Both my 8a, and my s24 were ruined by updates, either slowing down, battery life issues, camera processing changes, forced anti roll back bootloaders, and A16 changing how android notifications are handled tanked them.

Meanwhile the SE2020 I have for work gets updates all the time and while you cant roll back, its not performing worse and its not drastically changing things...it actually "just works"

Because my phone that I've had for 6 years works perfectly fine, and I see no need to buy anything until the thing outright doesn't work.

How is battery holding up? I was also thinking about buing it, or maybe even older model. How flagship Samsung phones hold up after 3 years?

I went from Samsung to Xiaomi and I honestly don't regret it. It took some time to get used to it, but I don't regret that I switched at all. My current Xiaomi reminds me of my old iPhone 5 in a lot of ways. It's much bigger though.
