Bullshit coverup reason. Most normalfags who are using Andoird only use the Google Play store. This is to control people who are tech savy enough to sideload apps on their phone and forcing everyone who wants to develop Android apps to follow Google's rules regardless if they want it on Google Play store or not

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX. Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called β€œLinux,” and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use.

Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called β€œLinux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

They will block sideloading apps for unverified devs but they won't block apps that completely hijack the phone and spam ads ad-nauseam
Does Google love it when an Android phone gets riddled with adware? They must do, because they are an ad company and it has been an issue for over a decade.

That's going to be difficult. Android was successful because it's using Java and free licensed crowd refuses to use Java. Why Java? Because it's a boring mediocre programming language that can do all relatively fast with okay guarantees. It won't work with C, C++, Rust, or Python, which are commonly used in opensource projects. C# won't work either because of Microsoft. Only really Scala is competition and that's just Java++.

There are Qt projects for alternative Android and as expected those projects failed. Also that's just the start because this would also need a UI toolkit and security in order to be successful.

It's interesting but Android was not created by Google, it was created by an independent company that was later bought. The choice of Java is obvious from a technological standpoint, even today. Apple realized this and made a half assed Scala, which is Swift. Of course you are correct, now it's all restricted to the JVM in Android.

>restrict apps to nearly a singular language/runtime
This is the correct thing to do. There shouldn't be a clusterfuck of many languages and runtimes in userspace, that is UNIX philosophy, and UNIX philosophy is retarded.
If everything is in one lang you get big benefits. Single toolchain and systemwide dynamic linking without DLL hell. No FFI bullshit and nice high level APIs without C bullshit. Apple wins here by a long shot with systemwide Swift and moving more and more things to it.
A single language/runtime is the objectively correct direction for modern OS to head in. We were already there with Lisp machines in the 80's, but we regressed with UNIX and its retarded faggotry braindamage "philosophy". Now people are finally realizing how retarded they were by writing in C and slowly going back. It will never be as good as Lisp machines though.

That's easy to bypass (for now). You can either just escape out of the OOBE or simply not connect to anything (at least if you're actually using a full Windows OS and not rinky-dink home edition shit).

Honestly as long as domain join exists I think MS is going to have to support offline setup. The only way they'd really be able to force a strictly online setup environment is if they got all their domain users to push their domains into Azure.

There is no way you retards got filtered by """mandatory""" microsoft account. Shift+F10, regedit, then in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\OOBE add BypassNRO dword set to 1. Then reboot or kill winlogon.exe for a time skip.
OOBE is bloatware anyway, you can skip it entirely if in that same OOBE key you set cmdline to cmd.exe, then instead of OOBE on first boot you get cmd.exe, just use net user to add your account, then run regedit again and set OOBE InProgress to 0, then reboot and boom. Entire setup process fucking skipped, didn't even need to agree to EULA, no Microsoft account, fully offline.
>What happens if no internet?
Normies always connect to internet. They removed the "no internet" offline setup so they get filtered by it. BypassNRO adds it back or you can just skip setup entirely like I said above.

It also can be restricted by admins if your device is pre-imaged with a locked-down enterprise OS image or some bullshit.
What it should do, is pop an administrator cmd.exe and change the Z-order so OOBE is in the back and you can run any app on top of it.

Honestly idk. For the few anticheat games I play, I have a Win11 VM with GPU passthrough and looking glass so I can play it while still using Linux. It has a software TPM for secure boot, but no Pluton of course so it won't pass hardware attestation.
Eventually my plan is to get a server with shitloads of storage hooked up via ZFS and run my own private root DNS servers, TLS cert authority, Gentoo package source mirror, basically all Internet infrastructure for a true overlay network. Then just data hoard as much shit as possible, torrent all the music, movies, books, put them in Jellyfin and publish an NFS share for other machines in the house to connect to. Then once I use more of my network than the rest of the Internet, fully disconnect and only use Internet when truly needed, everything else goes solely on my private network. Once in a while I can load it up with blurays or other content that I get physically.

>Secure boot allows you to insert your own keys, just because you are retarded doesn't mean secureboot is "taking away your FREEDOMES"

It's preparation. First you roll out lite version of secureboot. Everything open, everything can still be circumvented. Then you end up with secureboot or Windows won't boot. After that, it's only a single step from signed apps only. They're all doing it. Amazon is in the process of blocking sideloading on Kindles and new generation of drm.

This is a frustrating thing to discuss online because it's happening in real time. The EU Commission is currently debating whether or not to include specifically ECDSA (https://eprint.iacr.org/2024/2010) in the EUDI Wallet. There are two alternatives considered for ZKP, and they both have issues (one requires new mobile hardware, and the other requires redoing the way tokens are issued, which would set the project back enough for it to miss the deadline). If they decide against it, the app, at least at launch, won't be zero knowledge and they'll be able to track what sites you use the app on. There are also other open questions that may leak certain types of information but nothing as bad as the linkability issue you get when there's no ZKP.
Anonymous No.106406721

it's even worse over there since apple is already weaponizing dev accounts/keys with EU oversight, and EU is weaponizing it to roll out digital ID to every user
>>106391774
no, google is facing a lot less competition with alternative stores nowadays, amazon killed it's app store and a shitload of foss devs burnt out over the last 3 or 4 years, epic's the sole one that has grown and it's a games only store (something google hasn't stopped failing at for well over a decade)
sideloading weakness is exactly why google is pulling this, closing down android was always the plan and that's why they invested hard into making their own bsd replacements for gpl software and then dropped the bsd stuff for proprietary stuff

f-droid having to ensure every app is ok by google standards to preserve their google provided key will either limit their store hard or end up with the project dying, and this is before google abuses the system
either they will go with reproducible builds and forcing devs to use their own google key or they will simply not participate or kill the project

spoofing signatures requires a custom rom (and most custom roms explicitly don't support spoofing signatures due to "security concerns"), if you can run a custom rom with signature spoofing you can simply not use gapps at all and avoid all the google cancer
this is why microg requires patched custom roms to work "well"

Can't you just enable development mode on your phone, then git pull the project and build the apk yourself?

Not sure how they can prevent that, unless there is some kind of key mechanism which is bound to the developer being verified to be able to build the apk in the first place.
Anonymous No.106410661
>>106410616
That's how Apple does it AFAIK. Requires an Apple Developer subscription which is tied to your Apple account. Then you have some key pair that is valid per account for each dev.

Cannot build or run any apps without it.

Think F-Droid with the software essentially being an extension of the app.
