True, Google basically owns Mozilla at this point.
But Mozilla, unlike Google, let's you download addons as XPI files. Many extensions distribute XPI outside of Mozilla addons too. The extensions can self update on their own URL without touching Mozilla servers at all. So I just save my MV2 addons like uBlock and sideload them. You can do it in Chrome too but you get shitload of warnings and "untrusted extension" everywhere. Firefox just treats it like any other extension (or more accurately, addons.mozilla.org like any other extension source, there is no special treatment other than search bar and promo on extensions page)

Bypass paywall clean got banned from Mozilla and Chrome extension stores too, surprise surprise. The dev offers it for download on his page, and it auto-updates by having a manifest update URL point to his page instead of addons.mozilla.org. Dissenter could have done the exact same thing but didn't because
>muh first amendment I need to be on official mozilla store because free speech !!!!
Addon stores are stupid anyway. If you get filtered by an extension being banned from a mainstream addon store then it's just a skill issue.

Free speech stuff should never be accessible to normies anyway imo. They would just pollute it and liberals would take it down instantly. It's better to keep this shit on private self-hosted/decentralized infra, instead of indexed and well known big tech servers, which are obviously censored and won't let any of that kind of shit fly.

They made the mobile version marginally less shit with the latest update by finally fixing the 'open in app' behaviour if you have it set to task. Previously it'd just start loading the page in Firefox no matter what when the prompt appeared. Now it actually prevents loading until you tell it whether you want to open the page in an app or not and dumps to a blank page if you select yes.

They're working on it: https://github.com/LadybirdBrowser/ladybird/issues/38
Need I remind you, the guy behind it wrote an entire OS and Ladybird was ported from it, I'm confident they'll manage to wrangle their browser to run on Windows. It's just low priority because all the devs use Linux/Mac, and Windows is for normies, they're pretty much mutually exclusive.

Also desu summarization is one of the more useful things LLMs are good for, so functionally adding something like that to a browser kinda makes sense.
