so do these things actually have some computer vision thing to only target weeds?
if not, why not just strap a much cheaper propane weed torch on the back instead?
>>106393801 (OP) >lasers to replace pesticides >twitter nobody/substack blog writer
go away, you sad and pathetic loser. i can't imagine being so much of a fucking loser that you need to post your twitter account here just so you can make money via views. kill yourself, you talentless fraud.
>>106394023
and negros tongue my anus. people have been controlling lasers using computers 100000x slower with same results. image recognition is so fucking old. >24 nvidia gpus
lmfao.
>>106393958 >so do these things actually have some computer vision thing to only target weeds?
yeah. and it's not new technology, it's really fucking ancient but it looks brand new if you're a larping loser on twitter.
>>106394046 >image recognition is so fucking old.
image recognition that's good enough to differentiate little green plant (weed) from little green plant (young corn) in real time is pretty high end
>>106394069 >propane is cheap and weed torches are a simple and proven technology
Is it cheaper with the added overhead? Sounds like you've made the system more complicated now that it needs a control arm to move/aim the torch. It will also be slower than a laser. Then there is the gas supply.
>>106394101 > pretty high end
not really. think of the computing tech employed in post offices back over 50 years ago that was reading human text, thousands of characters per minute and in different kinds of wild handwriting and type faces. your phone is more powerful than that system. the resolution of images got better but the computing requirements haven't gone up all that much. to identify certain patterns in a digitize image is ancient tech. you could strap a rack of pentium 4s to the tractor and get the same result if you had the software for it.
>>106394225
corn, characters, it's a basic pattern a computer can easily spot. are you pretending to be fucking stupid? all the computer needs to know is what shapes are for whatever the target is. you don't need nvidia cards for this basic shit that's been performed for half a century. do you have down syndrome or did your thread shilling your twitter account go completely south? tell you what, learn about how this fucking shit works and then come back to me with your bullshit questions. fucking hell you are dense as fuck.
>>106393801 (OP) >Costs 1 million dollars >A gallon of pesticide for that parcel of land costs like 100$
Why would the average small farmer buy that instead of using pesticides?
Or are we just playing pretend that they wouldn't outlaw pesticides so mega corpos and extremely rich people will own all land and will be the only ones able to afford these things?
>>106394317
they wouldn't be. this is nothing more than a pathetic shill thread created by a loser from twitter to shill his twitter account and get clicks so elon can give him money for people interacting with his account. these losers also pollute pol with similar shit.
>>106394268
nah, still too slow. weeds grow like weeds and this laser system would quickly lose its effectiveness as soon as the weed is past its first growth stage. you need to kill the root, not the leafs. you'll never be able to run this on wheat or canola, etc.
>>106393801 (OP)
Shit like this is made by some engineer who has never touched grass once in his life. The idea that doing a single pass with lasers is going to solve the issue just shows he has no comprehension of the issue at hand. Within a week those bugs will be back. No farmer is going to do this daily or even weekly. It's a huge drain on their fuel and hardware and increases costs over just spraying.
Not to mention this shit only works for either the baby crop stages or crops that don't grow tall.
>>106394267 >it's a basic pattern a computer can easily spot
No, it's not. Differentiating different plants at a young stage is a lot harder than differentiating Latin letters.
>>106394429 > quick! you don't know anything about these plants because you have been programmed like a computer!
you really are an intellectually bankrupt fucking moron, aren't you? i can't imagine knowing so little about technology while promoting your cringe twitter account where you demonstrate 0 ability to understand any of the technology you talk about. you are a fraud. and a pretty awful one too.
>>106393801 (OP)
and if we made labor expensive they'd find a way to replace more pickers too
the solutions are feasible we just need to make it the only option

I'm 47 and from The Netherlands.
It's insane how much windscreen splatter has decreased over my lifetime.
As a boy I always cleaned the windscreen because it was something to do while my mom went inside to pay and also I was taller than my mom since like age 13 so could reach better.
In summer every single fuel stop was windscreen wiping time, now it's maybe twice a year.
