It's the "extra beef at taco bell" of software.
You pay more for what used to be there before changes.

Basically sums up the links you get when searching for something so you don't need to visit said links.

'Google's AI features are most useful for complex, multi-part questions that require synthesized, reasoned answers. Traditional search remains the better option for finding specific, well-established facts and for browsing a wider set of diverse results.'

i got no fucking clue man

The unspoken contract has always been that websites make good content and make their websites easy for googlebot to scrape and google sends people to said sites in return, so everyone benefits
By aggressively making people avoid going in the sites and just taking the sites' content to feed the AI that helps such google is just turning it into a zero sum game
What is the endgoal there, pissing off website hosts enough until they block googlebot and other crawlers?

I haven't used google since 2016. What's even the point of it?

i wonder what the ratio of people accidentally clicking that vs intentionally clicking that
do the analytics team feel suicidal when they realize 80% of their clicks were accidental because they really really really should

>need to know the public leaderboard names for the spacewar app
>google it, the AI search thing pops up and is adamant that it has no leaderboard and im wrong
>literally the 3rd google result was the actual answer i was looking for

This shit can't even index search properly, this wasn't even obscure or hard to find and it totally fucked it. Despite that, trillions are being pumped into this dogshit.
