They can call it whatever they want. Almost all the code is still AOSP. Basically Android, but they break ABI.

Always remember that China never invents anything. They can copy, but incapable to do proper R&D when stealing IP is easier and faster.

On a Smartphone, that is alright.
FirefoxOS unironically had the best concept.
The smartphone is a communication device and all the """Apps""" are only webviews, so why not make it a browser in the first place?

They developed their own kernel. Meanwhile Google had to copy 34 years old Linux, and the company with the highest amount of active Linux contributors is Huawei, so Google runs Chinese code, while the Chinese don't run anything from Google.
Huawei run a hybrid system in the past, during a transition period, and now they are completely on their own software stack and dropped Android app support.
