Absolutely fucking useless, waste of space. If you can't reprogram these on your keyboard, you wasted your money and got scammed.

Seriously, you should only be buying keyboards that you can fully reprogram instead of buying vintage e-waste with gimmicky macro keys instead of something that allows you to have that AND fully customize the function of each key. Especially if you are spending anywhere from 50-100$ at this point.

The context menu button is literally the only thing useful here, otherwise having an identical right control, start menu, and alt is pointless.

you dont need to reprogram the keyboard itself, you can do it right in windows through regedit.

Are there really OS's where you can't remap the keyboard however you like? Why would the keyboard need to know about this?

Is this some WinToddler shitpost?

Win+arrow keys - useful for arranging windows
Alt - useful for entering polish diacritics
Menu - I'll occasionally use it to bring up the context menu
Ctrl - useful when editing text

You can't unless you have a keyboard that supports programming on all of your keys.

Your keyboard is a proprietary piece of shit if that's the case.

You can mod any keyboard to be reprogrammable, easily.

You don't get it, when you press a key it just sends a key code to the OS. Any competent OS can issue any keypress with any keycode. What you're saying is akin to saying 'if you can't slow down your mouse cursor movement IN THE MOUSE your mouse is a proprietary piece of shit.' Like I suppose you could in theory get a mouse where you can adjust the speed by turning dials inside of it or whatever. But what's the point when any competent OS supports adjusting the mouse speed right there in the OS?

Right Alt can be used as a different modifier (Alt Gr) and remapped at will.

I use right-side mods when two-handing a chord on the left or when one-handing a chord on the right, and analogously for the left side. I don't understand why you wouldn't do this unless you are very smooth-brained.

The menu key is the only actual useless one there. I have a keyboard with [ Alt Fn Menu Ctrl ] and I use the register remap to replace Menu with right Win.

I have a wireless keyboard I use with my Steam Deck that has [ Alt PrnSc Ctrl ] on the right and the Print Screen key pisses me off. One day soon I'll install keyd or katana and change it to a Super key.
