FAQ:
>How do I activate Windows?
github.com/massgravel/Microsoft-Activation-Scripts
HWID2 generates and registers a permanent legitimate license on MS's activation servers
Usage: paste into Powershell, run.
irm https://get.activated.win | iex
>and Office?
Same link, select Ohook option
You can also use Office.com if your needs are very minimal
or try OnlyOffice/LibreOffice and set it to save in MSOffice file formats

When did they remove from edge the little "define" feature in the right click menu? This did some heavy lifting for me and its one of the reasons I used edge over other browsers. Looks like they also removed the option to translate selected speech

What is VirusTotal saying about https://codeload.github.com/massgravel/Microsoft-Activation-Scripts/zip/refs/heads/master ?
Anonymous No.106408456 >>106409144
I always assumed a lot more of the default windows applications were linked to the store. Going through the cleanup of my IoT install and a lot of things either are still here or work perfectly fine without it. Was surprised I was allowed to install languages without it too. Really was pure bloat lol

well I checked and it's about what you expect, it's detected by a few AVs as a KMS tool, which doesn't prove anything, it just detects that it does try to activate Windows.

As for connections, they're all to MS domains and the massgrave page, which is not flagged as a malicious site either.

Files dropped, commands, and everything else seems to be in line with what massgrave says it does, Ofc a /sec/ anon would have more insights

ignore the avs, they lie even when they don't detect the threat. check the behavior

Daily reminder that PowerShell is incredibly based, and scoop is an excellent package manager for software devs and people with OCD who like to keep their programs self-contained and organized.

Yep
Scoop is my preferred way of installing and updating CLI software like yt-dlp, ffmpeg, imagemagick, gallery-dl, etc
Anonymous No.106408858
Anyone have this iusse where upon startup the internet will work fine in the browser, but other softwares "update" will be stuck? Like discord or steam, will be on "checking for updates" for a very long time until it works?

The store is just a package manager frontend anon, the support for MSIX is a lot more fundamental.

I dont understand what the info in the OP means with forced version upgrades, cant i just disable windows updates altogether?
Anonymous No.106409212 >>106409291
>>106409182
If you don't like updates breaking shit the first solution should always be installing an LTSC release instead of disabling all updates, as LTSC only gets security updates
Anonymous No.106409224 >>106409291
>>106409182
You could but it's a bad idea to do that. The OP is also quite reactionary and bias while trying to make everything sound worse then it is.
You could either use an LTSC varient which is frozen on a certain feature pack (21H2 for 2021 and 24H2 for 2024 for example) or use group policy on a normal edition to mostly freeze it on the feature pack you're already using. LTSC is easier though.

So lets say a new LTSC version comes out i can upgrade it later whenever i need to?
Anonymous No.106409304
>>106409291
Yeah, you can use the new LTSC ISO's setup.exe to in-place upgrade to the newest version.
Anonymous No.106409315
>>106409291
I haven't done it myself as I'm staying on LTSC 2021 for as long as the software I use is supported, but from what I've read it's apparently very easy to upgrade
